Other than that, he biggest source of information is the stardew valley wiki, which any book can only copy from at best. So it's up to you if you rather want to have a book for that information. And 1.6 will add some new stuff. The 1.5 stuff will most likely not being touched, but any guidebook will be incomplete after that for obvious reasons
And as Lars said, you can also just play it. This is not really a game where you can miss anything, so the wiki or any information in general is only necessary if you want to min-max right from the beginning.
also the only thing missable in this game is a single cutscene with sam it can only be done between spring-fall of year 1 and you lose nothing of value if you miss it or not
You shouldnt need the wiki for anything. A game is designed to be played without one. Not with one. Yes. There are things you need to find. Yes, exploring/experimentation are required. But there is no reason to have to have a wiki to complete the game.
Sure there is one available for people if they would like to use one. But thats a personal thing.
I would wait for 1.6 now to start a run, the announcement recommended starting new game with 1.6 to see the new content organically as it comes.
It for sure has nice art and the most useful stuff of the wiki pages you would look into most of the time anyway. It is missing some calculations though (at least from what i see of the example pages), if you're interested in min-maxing. Also it will definitely miss a few information about the new festivals and whatever gets added as well, so that will still be something you need to look up online (unless you wait for the fifth edition of the guidebook, but don't ask me about when that one comes^^)
As for if you should wait, it's 17 days until the patch gets released, which isn't that long anymore, so might as well just wait for that to get the full experience. old saves will be compatible though, so ultimately it is up to you.
I also recommend just playing and learning without a guide. If you research all the best meta crops and stuff it takes a lot of the enjoyment out of it.
Thank you
I guess I could spend a week playing the game then when update comes out just restart?
