Prismatic butterfly parameters

So I recently unlocked the statue of blessings and the first blessing I got was 'Blessing of the butterfly' but I couldn't find it after searching the area all day. I am wondering about things like where can the butterfly spawn, does it spawn in ginger island and/or calico desert, does it glow during night and does it constantly move around the area or does it loop in a circle

dont waste your time looking for it. its next to impossible to find and it gives you almost nothing. like .5% of your total made up to 50,000g, minimum 100g or a prismatic shard. i looked for it about a dozen times before i just started to ignore the blessing. Unless you wanna waste your whole day. I'm currently looking for a mod that removes that blessing, as by the time you can even GET the statue of blessings you literally do not need the blessing of the butterfly for any reason at all.

I really only need the prismatic shards cause in my 6 years in game, I was unlucky and only managed to find 5 prismatic shards

Deep dives into SC can get you 3+ / day.

How deep are we talking? I did a month of JUST skull cavern and gotten average 50+ floors each day and I didn't manage to get any prismatic shards

Well to put it in perspective I reach floor 120+ in spring year one. Here's a video of a guy doing floor 100 in Spring 22. At a minimum, get there early with the warp totem, use spicy eel and espresso.

Other than that, look at what he's doing and ask yourself what is he doing that you aren't.

????? Based on what? You can literally watch his clock and measure 10 seconds yourself. Based on what do you say that? Show me a timestamp where the 10 seconds isn't adding up, because I just checked 4 random places in the video and it's exactly the speed of the vanilla game. Ex: 8:40 clock hits 10am, 8:50 clock hits 10:10am.

Why do people feel the need to rationalize a video where someone does well as "he must be bending the rules" ?

I have found the prismatic butterfly in the secret woods, the cindersap forest and the area directly north of our farm. Those are the only areas I have ever found her. I have looked and not found her on mulitple occasions. It says "somewhere in the valley" so I am guessing not in the desert, not ginger island. I have never looked inside of buildings. Hope this helps answer your question a little bit.

I tend to find it at the bus station, or the ocean...or the forest.

Buuut imo its rewards are really reaaallly reaaallly bad, for how annoying it is if you intentionally are trying to find it, so just run out do whatever and if you find it great if you dont, it's really not worth the effort at all.

And if prismatic shards is what you're looking for...ow god butterflies are not the way...it tends to mostly give money really, very little of it -_-.

As mentioned skull cavern is best, they drop in basic too..but not as frequent. I just focus on farming iridiuim, and they just happen to drop, I never target farm them that's miserable xD.

Well, if you want shards without going into SC or chasing butterflies, you could also do the slightly less (than the butterfly) annoying method of having Rainbow Trout fish ponds. The odds of getting a shard are still abysmal, and the profits suck, but at least the ponds don't move.

its only in the starter areas of town. not in the desert or the island or the mines. It also doesnt move between zones. If it spawns in backwoods it stays in backwoods. If it spawns in mountains it stays in mountains. it probably glows at night but if you havent found it yet and youre not in the same zone as the butterfly at 5 PM then it despawns for the day.

unfortunately with out a save file predictor, I have trouble finding the butterfly.
