the wiki says clams are now considered fish. you have to "catch" it, not sell it. maybe from a crab pot?

It is the normal Blue Clam. I just noticed this as well, i believe i sold/shipped a few and still didnt count

Oh so those that you get in the beach from foraging dont count anymore, it seems.

I don't think the clams ever counted in the "fish" section, right? Otherwise the Cockle, Mussel and Oyster would have counted as well. Same with getting the crab drop from the craps, or the ghost fish from the ghost's.

You've always had to use crabpots to get all of them. I know I have, and I've 100%'d the fishing table multiple times. I think it's just been moved on the tab so it can be considered a bit confusing.

Clams pre 1.6 weren't classified as fish technically yea, now they are. iirc you still had to catch them in a crab pot, which as you said hasn't changed since previous versions. I think the main difference would be that fisher/angler would apply to them now and you can put them into fish ponds.
