hot take: journey of the prairie king

The one thing that's been bugging me is how easy it is to beat JotPK. One year ago it was one of the rarest achievements, now its so incredibly easy and even people can do Fector's Challenge easily. When I wanted to beat the game, I stayed up late on discord call's with my friend so I could just vent my frustration, but he also just helped me out with words of encouragement. I kept getting to the last level and bam, all of my progress gone. I remember going to bed night after night, saddened, but my friend told me he'd still want me to call the next night. Then, finally, after so many deaths by bats and those godforsaken mushrooms, I did it. I had finally won. I remember the excitement that was flowing through me, my friend was ecstatic. I was trying so hard not to wake up the rest of my family by how happy I was.

But now, it just seems like these kind of moments for this achievement are much more rare. I wish others got to experience the happiness I did in feeling this game, because one week after I beat it legitimately another one of my friend's cheesed it with the exiting strat, and gloated about it.

Where can you vent, if not on the internet lol!

I'll probably die of old age before I get either of those achievements, just because I don't really want to play the whole game-in-a-game. I did notice they shut down a mod that let you cheese it, I don't think I want to get it that way either tbh, but who knows?

You don't have to do it all in one day any more, that's what they are complaining about. You can exit and sleep to save the day then next time you play it'll be at that point. The cheese is, that if you saved before and you have a bad run the next day you can reload. I don't think it'll really make the percentage of people with it that much greater. People who cheated could easily enough already if they wanted. It takes nothing away from a real achievement unless you let it.

The difficulty of JotPK was the fact that it was a worse game than ET for the Atari and belongs in a landfill who would willingly play it? achievement or not?

yea but i still did it in one day, i guess thats why i was so proud of myself lol
