"Your tree was unable to grow last night"

Im trying to grow an orange tree and it got to stage 4 before it started saying that it was unable to grow up. The other orange tree however is growing up normally. They are spaced the same distance like all other fruit trees i had. I went around with a pick/axe around to see if there was a seed or soemthing but nothing. What gives? The only thing i could think of is the texture of hte grass have these small flowers on it, but at the same time that hasnt affected the other trees.

It needs to have every adjacent square free to continue growing. Maybe there's a wood plank or stone blocking the growth? With you saying grass you could try cutting it and see if it works

Like i said ive gone each of hte 8 squares around it with axe and pickaxe nothing. And the grass is just animated texture on the ground and not actual grass

is it the new artifact spot that gives seeds? those will also prevent the tree from growing

maybe there is already a mature tree on the border of 8 cells? trees cannot intersect their crowns

Its impossible ot overlap since the game doesnt let you put another tree sapling withing 2 nearby tiles.
