There will be tons of moss if you get the Green Rain in summer. You can encourage it by placing rain totems.

I already knew about that but I also finally found some so now I have a better idea what I am looking for.

if trees are tinted a green color you can hit them with an axe and moss will fall out

You can also use your sword or scythe to collect the moss from trees, and is by far preferable to using an axe as you won't have to risk chopping down trees you may not want to chop down. This is especially useful if you've got a tapper tree farm setup and still want to be able to collect moss from them. :terraria:

It's also faster and takes no energy to use.

It's dependant on season, some seasons have more chance to produce moss on trees than others.

Got into Spring of my second year today and noticed some trees had moss by at least the 3rd day.

yeah Plant trees around the valley, some should probably get moss. eventually. and well, the trees are good wood for doing things or turning into coal.

I had found a few dozen moss on my farm on trees, and then on summer 18 It was a day full of green rain and moss was everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds and bushes, most of which give moss when chopped. I collected over 1000 moss in one day by clearing all the weeds on my farm, around town, in the forest, and up in Ridgeside too.

Found moss in 13th of Summer.

It took me time to go visit the Adventure Guild and found my only and first moss tree so far.

I feel like they are rare?
