edit: i see no mention of desktop runtime 6 in any 1.6 update news threads on steam (as far as i can see), yet the wiki says it was moved to desktop runtime 6.... could this be a reason some people arent getting their games running with any fixes at all?
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Version_History#1.6
read or ctrl f .net 6 and you find nothing about it in the link above.
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Migrate_to_Stardew_Valley_1.6
take note again, that .net 6 isnt mentioned anywhere but the modding/migration page on the wiki.
also to note, there is a beta branch, it has...
https://www.stardewvalley.net/compatibility/
xna - 32bit, for vista and lower (which isnt supported by steam and none of them run on steam).
the xna version can run on 64bit OS/cpu's.
it isnt compatible with smapi or any mods, because of it being 32bit.
but it "might" use less resources than the 64bit versions (havent bothered testing to see).
and
1.5.6 - 64bit, which i assume (its not mentioned at all) is for windows "something" up to win 11 and is for people who want to play with mods, until 1.6 version isnt being constantly updated anymore and mods can be used freely.
keeping in mind steam only supports win 10 and up (for now).
while also keeping in mind that when microsoft (oct 2025) and steam (some time after) drops support for win 10, there will be no OS's supporting 32bit (win 10 was the last OS to have a 32bit installer) and as well steam doesnt support anything lower than win 10, vista/xp barely run on steam (you need some tech skills/coding to even get them working on steam and they still dont run properly) and win 7 runs (for now, until it doesnt).
both beta version are stated to have the same content as standard version w/e that means (1.6.2? or 1.5.6?).
one being xna and the other 1.5.6, so i have no clue what "content" they have or dont have.
or is the xna version info stating it has the same content as the 1.5.6 version (being called the standard version on the wiki, while also being called the main branch in other info on the wiki?), thus no new content in either from 1.6.2? or?
ill also add, someone using the xna version mentioned it had (so far) some of the new content from 1.6, yet isnt meant to? or is? as the info doesnt match up to whats been mention by someone using xna?
either of the beta versions have to be selected to install, 1.5.6 does not install by default.... not sure why it says that (outdated info? wrong info?) and the "main branch" mention i would assume would be 1.6.2, not 1.5.6

last fix in "other issues" but right above "known issues".
this should supposedly allow you to see w/e error its having, which will aid in fixing the issue(s).
the link below has a list of fixes as well, one could check, though i dont know what works or not and what has been updated info wise.
