Book of mysteries

Hello all
I have been enjoying update 1.6 so far and I'm trying to wrap up newly added achievements. I have only one book left - the Book of mysteries. I've read that it can be found in golden mystery boxes. I've opened quite few of them already (maybe 20) and I can get the book to drop. I find searching for golden boxes extremely tedious (I've opted for relying on monster drops in skull cavern runs but I noticed that making the cavern harder doesn't really change the drop rate).
Have anyone of you encountered difficulty in finding that book? Is it maybe possible to find it in other way? What is the most reliable way of grinding these golden boxes?

I've opened like 40/50 golden mystery boxes and still no book. i'm missing the Friendship 101 and Treasure Appraisal Guide aswell, i've been in a lot of booksellers and none of them had those 2

Friendship is reward in Lewis prize machine too.

Friendship os from Lewis's prize machine, as said above.
Treasure Appraisal Guide I got from the Artifact Troves, only opened 4 of them and got it twice lol.

There are 46 different things (listed by the wiki at least) that can be dropped. If we assume everything having the same drop chance, then 20 is not really that much to open, even 40-50 still has a high chance of some itesm not getting dropped. You probably need like 300+-100 rolls for a nearly guaranteed chance for a specific drop at this probability

Okay, I managed to drop the book from golden mystery box. It took me about 100 boxes to do it tho. My route was to go to skull cavern on worst look to spawn more enemies and try to grind golden boxes from them. I managed to get 4-5 boxes per day so the whole ordeal was rather tedious. I guess rng wasn't favorable for me this time. Although thanks to this I was able to find some great trinkets (pet void frog omg).
I think that item multiplication bug from co-op games could work for less patient player. I haven't tried it on these boxes but they should drop different items. This could be the way to omit insane (even for SV standards) grind it took me. I wonder if this will get fixed (maybe guaranteed book drop after 32th box or something, since it is prob unique item for golden boxes).

I'd recommend hoarding the boxes until you have the foraging mastery, then opening them all at once, and if you don't get anything then ALT+F4 and do it again until you get it. Less annoying than having to farm hundreads of them.

Cool, but I noticed that items dropping from boxes do not change after resttting the day. It is possible that it is seeded

I spent 5 days farming over 50 golden mystery boxes in skull cavern, and when I opened them, I got the book on the third try. So now i have 53 more golden boxes in my chest lol

Book can be found also in regular - blue Mystery Box - I just got mine and this is only first summer! So you just have to be lucky (ps. in game I had neurtal luck if it's helps).
