Question About Books of Power

I'm returning to the game after many years away to check out all of new content. When fishing, I snagged a book Jewels of the Sea, which claims to confer a special power.

I did a little searching and what I've found suggests that once you find one of these books it will show up on the player's Special Items and Powers page, but the book I've found isn't. I've taken it to the museum thinking it needed to be donated, perhaps, but Gunther doesn't want it.

Is there something I need to do to enable the power, or is this a possible bug? I'm not playing with any mods.

I believe you need to right click with the item in your hand to use it

Aye, you gotta read the book first. Just having it in your inventory does not convey the power.

I'm glad the farmer reads the book like a hero (by just looking at the cover for a couple of seconds) rather than taking days and days to learn how to make an end table like the Project Zomboid survivors
