Am I crazy, or was this always a thing?

Whenever I speak to one of the NPCs once, it's normal, but if I try to speak to them again, I now have a box that says "Interaction with ___" and the option of "chat" and "cancel".
I haven't played in a while, is this normal, or is one of my mods doing this? I could swear I could speak to a character multiple times before without this option...
(Sorry for the dumb question, it's bothering me a little.)
I should mention that at the moment the only mods I'm using are mostly cosmetic mods, nothing cheat related or that would change interactions.

I think that is a mod doing that. I haven't noticed it in my game, though I also haven't tried talking to an NPC twice in one day.
Let me check when I load into my game again in a few.

It's not doing it for me. That doesn't sound normal. Did you check your SMAPI log?

as mentioned, sounds like a mod conflict, smapi may show a conflict if it exists.

in any case, you could remove and replace mods one by one and see which might be causing the issue.

or if using vortex, simply disable one by one to see if any are causing the issue.

a quick test, is removing all mods from the folder and running the game to see if the issue still exists (if it exists without any mods, then its likely a game bug, but if not then its a mod(s) causing the issue), then adding them one by one till the issue crops back up, meaning the last mod before the issue happened again, would likely be the culprit.

Yeah, I would do what is being suggested and check your SMAPI log.
I just checked and it isn't happening on my game, but I removed my SMAPI load option and am running pure vanilla for now. So it isn't an option for the game unmodded.

Darn. I was afraid of that. Good thing I downloaded a mod manager just in case. I'll try disabling the mods one by one and update on what happened.

OK, so it really was a mod, but thank goodness I didn't have to do all that.
SpaceCore has an Advanced Character Interactions box that was active. I unactivated it and everything's back to normal ^_^0
