Big Furnace? more like big scam
"What´s this, a new furnace? it takes 25 ores and only 3 coals? WOAH, super usefull for end-gamers making tons of bars, let me update all my furnace"... 25 ores and 3 coals in exchange for 4 bars :steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm:

I just lost TONS of ores and mats to upgrade the furnace only to discover this crap just eats materials, period, yhou NEVER are gonna get 25 bars, so what´s even the point??

Any other new item that is just as useless so I never create one minus for the achievement?

I think the idea is that the ore is easier to get than coals, and you can do more bars at once in a single furnace.

Everybody complains about how hard coal is to get (I never had a problem as I know what dust sprites are), and spending 3 coal to get 4 bars is marginally better.

I think the big thing, though, is time and space.. Doing 4 bars per furnace simultaneously, vs 1 furnace per bar.

And unless you're doing Iridium, copper/iron/gold falls like rain, I end up with hundreds.

Big furnace is great. Goes through a stack of 999 iridium like it's nothing.

if its 4 bars for 25 ore then u use 5 more ore than a normal furnace but u save on coal

You can buy it from Clint, so...

I don´t get the positivity of this messages, it makes no mathematical sense, you are losing ores, which are more expensive than coal. And about how easy it´s to get them, that would be for anyone else, because my game decided that Iridium it´s a once in a full moon item in my save. I have gotten to 101 floor on Skull caverns, got like 40 Iridium ores on that run, on regular mines I have only seen one node, on my quarry on the four corners map only one, and on normal quarry only one mystic node, I also had the fish that gives one Iridium ore once in a while and in all my time they only gave me 2, and I also have the golden cat statue and it´s mostly just giving me geodes (which are useless to me since the two final artifacts I´m missing I´m never getting them even after opening more than 80 artifact troves) and diamonds, it has only produced 5 Iridium Bars in a total of 3 months that I have owned it.

So the total amount of Iridium ore that has appear in my game it´s INFINITELY smaller than in most games I see online, don´t even know why, but it´s like that. So spending 25 of them to only get 4 bars... who care about the coal that I can just buy in bulks of 999 whenever I want except for Fridays? That´s one bar that you are missing in exchange for 2 miserable coal pieces, even if out of every 10 times you put ores in big furnace only in two of them you get 4 rather than 5, you are already losing ores.

Personally I do find this RNG little things to be the worst part of the game, and if I were modding the game, removing it would be my main focus.

Installing the Skull Cavern elevator mod will help a great deal, just FYI. At sub-100 floors iridium is much more common, but acquiring stone/jade for staircases is a tedious affair. Elevator helps alleviate that issue.

I prefer to stay away from mods from the moment. Staircases I´m ok getting them, got 9 crystalariums with 8 of them doing Jade, currently sitting on 364 Jades. Being thinking if expanding my Crystalariums, but I don´t know, I´m very cautious to not go too crazy, and I like my workshop how it looks. Although with the new house expansions, I´m at a crossroads, do I keep my current workshop (barn on the middle of the map) or do I make a new one on my ouse since now it´s so huge? Choices choices XDXDXD

And to be honest, I´m not super fast, so even with the staircases, it takes me time. Imuch prefer the Volcano dungeon, and that´s where I go, but yeah, Iridium ore there it´s very RNG dependant and I get 14-25 per run, sometimes even less. That was my problem with this super furnace. My own mistake, I shouldn´t have make 10 from the go and throw all my Iridium ores inside. NOw I think I´ll just wait on the wikia to update and see the actual numbers on how many times can you get 4 bars rather than 5 and how many times you get 6, to see if it´s worth it that times you loose 5 ores, at least for Iriidum. For the others I don´t care since it´s super easy to farm them on regular mines or buy them from Clint.

Randomly you'll get a bit more, yes. Given the amount of input, I had slightly more output than expected.

i get 6 bars just about every time. never once got below five bars.

thats 50% more than 4 bars. might be related to blacksmith perk.

Obviously it is for mass production of lower ore tiers than irridium (if you value each piece of ore), removing tedium for eg. copper in larger amounts and short time making so it normally need lot of attendance.

Don't think I've had them give me 4 bars. I've only ever seen 5 or 6 bars. I'd say it's worth it, even at 4 bars if that's happening though, because of the coal. 3 pieces of coal making 4-6 bars is pretty good.

"yhou NEVER are gonna get 25 bars"

You do realize that the normal furnace takes 5 ores per bar right? You aren't supposed to get 25 bars out of anything.

Or maybe it's a mistake and you mean 25 ores? In which case you can get tons of ores late into the game from deep skull cavern and the statue of perfection daily production.

Anyways, the Heavy Furnace works as expected. It's 5 bars for 25 ore and 3 coal, compared to 1 bar per 5 ore and 1 coal. So the rate of ore to bars stays the same but you save 40% coal when you refine, and takes 80% less space, making it more convenient to keep inside your house.

There's also time saved, too. Let's say you want a bunch of gold or iron bars for a project. Maybe you wanna make 20-30 Q-Sprinklers. Unless you make a dozen+ furnaces (which is gonna be a good 200+ copper), it's going to take forever to build those bars up, smelting 1 bar per 1 furnace.

I should know, I run like 6 furnaces (I build 5 and get 1 from CC bundles) and when I did the 24 Q-sprinklers for my farm, it took a few days of dumping ore in those furnaces.

But, if I instead had a couple heavy furnaces instead, I coulda pumped out 20-30 bars in a day, easy.
