Game won't launch after new update

help!! I've downloaded the new update (1.6), but now when I go to launch the game it just crashes... I've tried reinstalling, and verifying the local files. Neither worked and I don't know what else to do!

I'm having the same issues. I cleared my mods too, and have tried all of the recommended fixes. Still can't get the game to launch... :/

Dunno if it helps, but i was having the same problem and it was because i haven't played in a long time, and the version of SMAPI i had installed for mods was very old.

Downloaded the new version, ran it to uninstall the old version, then ran it again to install the new version and the game worked after that even though i hadn't updated my mods.

This worked for me! I hadn't even considered my SMAPI was the issue and that it wasn't up to date. Thanks for the suggestion! <3

how to uninstall the smapi? can i just take out of the Stardew Valley folder?

For windows, SMAPI has an installer that you can run. When you run it it will prompt you if you want to do an install or uninstall. I downloaded the latest version from nexus mods, then ran the installer and choose to do the uninstall first, then ran the installer again to do the install.

You can skip uninstalling process by download a new SMAPI and install it.

The client will automatically remove and replace.

Check if 4.0 is current version of SMAPI

I was troubleshooting for over an hour yesterday and reinstalling the 4.0 version worked. Thanks so much!
