Game runs fine on Sonoma 14.0, which OS are you running?

If the problem is specific to an OS update, then ... probably you'll have to wait a bit. Either it's an OS related bug, in which case Apple will probably receive other complaints (about a variety of software) and will put out a patch in fairly short order; or it might be an issue specific to SDV and you'll have to wait for CA to fix whatever the issue is.

In the meantime, you might consider installing an older OS on a removable drive and booting from that when you want to play SDV.

I'm on a Mac mini running macOS Sonoma version 14.2.1 and getting the same error. Only caveat to calling this specific to Mac would be that I also have a gaming pc running Windows 11 version 22H2 that was crashing at the same point as on my Mac but without any error notification.
On both devices, the game crashes shortly after I select my save file. It will show the loading screen for a bit as if the game play will start, but then it crashes instead.
I also uninstalled and re-installed the game on my Mac with no luck.
With the new update coming out in a couple days, I hope that fixes the issue... I'll be very sad if I can't play that

Okay actually update- it worked as soon as I tried a different save file, so might just be that one save was corrupted or something weird. Updating instead of deleting incase this helps anyone later...

Hm, well, regardless of which OS you're using, it's always good to make the occasional backup of your save files.

Has anyone already found a solution to the above problem or error message? I have an M2 macbook air and would like to play Stardew Valley. Unfortunately the game doesn't start for me either and I get the same error message. A colleague with an M2 Pro with the same operating system version was able to start the game without any problems. What could be the reason? (Any suggestions?)
