Sun Haven (more fantasy than SDV)
Blue Oak Bridge (more fantasy, 3D, super buggy but good enough that it overcomes itself)
Brookhaven Grimoire (slower paced, darker story)
Coral Island (devs are scammers, I do not actually recommend)
Gleaner Heights (slower paced, darker story, you can kill the townsfolk)
Rune Factory Series (these have WAY more combat and more story but core loop is basically the same; some of them are older than SDV)
Roots of Pacha (stone age, but otherwise pretty close)
Sort of similar (genre adjacent):
Dinkum (Aussie! 3D. Core loop is different)
Harvestella (3D, party based action RPG on top of farming sim, story focused; farming is to make food for adventuring purposes)
Forager (gather mats, build machines, no villagers)
Kynseed (SDV and a really old school CRPG had a pixel graphics farming villager baby)
Littlewood (building the town not a farm)
My Time At Portia / My Time At Sandrock (both are villager games but you're a builder/crafter instead of a farmer, more story/guidance/railroading, 3D)
Potion Permit (core loop is a little different)
Spirit of the Island (3D, building a resort and not farm)
Back to Nature, Animal Parade, Friends of Mineral Town, and A Wonderful Life are all great. You can emulate them super easily, but the latter two actually have remakes on steam.
Rune Factory is also good, I def recommend 4.

The game is in first person and has much less of a focus on farming even if similar gameplay elements are still there, but provides a very chill experience much like this game does. The main focus is on ranching slimes you find, feeding them with either grown crops or chickens depending on their diet, and selling their plorts for money.

Most of the game takes place on a boat, which is where all your spiritual guests will stay. While you can grow your own crops on the boat, you'll mainly be using the food supplies to cook meals for your guests while helping them out with their troubles, gathering resources from the various islands and building homes on the boat for them to live in, until you eventually send them to the Everdoor where you'll have to say goodbye to them forever.

Half of this game is actually very chill much like Stardew is and is about tending to your cult as you grow crops so you can cook meals for them to eat so they don't starve to death, all the while cleaning up after them and performing rituals to increase the strength of your cult. The other half is more of an action rogue-like with a far better combat system than what this game provides, which is where you'll be gathering most of your resources to use back at the cult.
never heard this before, i was thinking about getting it awhile back but all i hear is how difficult it is to make any money in that game
they released from EA to 1.0 without the game's main story being finished or all features complete
there are quests and conversations that still have 'WIP' on them instead of the actual text
and oh, the bugs -- go look at the first page on the game's forum
There is no warning regarding the game's incomplete state on their steam page; all of the graphics and announcements just say it's the 1.0 release.
They released it well before it was ready so that the little thumbnail said 1.0 for the Winter sale.
i think next best thing will be the chocolate game he is making lol
The fullgame is required to start the DLC. You don't need to know the story of the main game. But I would recommend it as many characters from the story return.

I play it on switch. After 10 hours of play, I can say that it is as addictive as Stardew Valley. Some mechanics have been simplified. Some new ones have been added. A big focus is on cooking. I like the wide variety of seeds.
The story is fun. Good ideas. A lot of funny and surprising events.
The map is more compact. However, the individual areas are designed to be a little more detailed and lively.
However, there are hardly any customization options as in Stardew Valley, so I don't know whether the game can motivate you in the long term.
Sun Haven is the closest you'll get, it's pretty much Stardew in a fantasy setting with slightly more story focus.
Graveyard Keeper isn't as much of an off the wall recommendation as it may appear, it's core gameplay loop is very similar to farming games.
Coral Island is Stardew if everyone in town was a 10. It's great but very much not finished, 1.0 is a lie and the back 3rd of the game basically doesn't exist yet. Best avoided until they actually finish it, probably end of the year.
Roots of Pacha will scratch the same farming itch, it's good, but be aware it has no combat.
Gleaner Heights is hard to recommend if you want more Stardew. It's a good farming game but it's pretty dark and serious in tone. The feel is very different.
Littlewood is an interesting one, no actual farming but it does feel very similar.
Faefarm is pretty good now it's had the bugs patched out. Less farming and more crafting, it's loop is similar though. My time at Portia/Sandrock fall in to the same category, crafting not farming but the loop is familiar.
