Terrible lag spikes

I don't know where they're coming from. The game used to run fine. It might be tied to the changing of the clock. I've seen other posts about this problem, but no conclusive solutions.

Are you using any mods? The only time I have experienced lag spikes is when using heavy mods like the expanded mod. A bit curious, what do mean by "changing of the clock"?

No mods or anything. What I mean by changing of the clock, is that the spikes might be tied to when the time changes (5:40pm -> 5:50pm).

I am experiencing the same issue. Ever since the I updated to using Steam to run the game and using Windows 10 X-64 bit, I have had nothing but ISSUES.

I have been doing some careful observations in my current playthrough which is lightly modded since the expanded mod totally botched my last playthrough. And yeah there actually are some spikes now towards the end of the third year. I wonder if it has something to do with everything I have unlocked, added and so on... They don't happen often though and I have noticed them especially in the skull cavern and on ginger island.
