if you can't find a save file there, then it is simply not saved into the cloud.
And i don't know exactely how the Steam Deck works, but if you can access the save file folders, then yes, it should be possible to just copy it over.
I confirmed the files are on the cloud... but getting them on the Deck itself has proven frustratingly unsuccessful. How exactly do you 'just' copy it over? I ask because it hasn't done so automatically.
I see no option to extract or download them directly, via Steam or in-game.
I did a manually download via the Firefox Browser on the deck, but I'm not sure where the game files should be placed. I figured they should be under .config/StardewValley/saves in the file system, but that hasn't worked; nothing showed up on the Load menu.
Edit: Oh come on, this is getting ridiculous. NOW it's synchronizing files back onto the old PC, and I have duplicate folders there. So now I know I'm putting it in the right location, but the Steam Deck REFUSES to read my old game file at all! This is awful, what am I doing wrong?
Well... I did finally get the file to work. Never succeeded through Steam Cloud, however.
I just ended up transferring it directly with a USB drive through the docker.
Perhaps I should have just tried that first instead.
Well, at least that means I saved the file and it is not stranded on the old PC anymore. I still don't know why none of it worked trying to get it through Steam Cloud; my other games work with the service just fine. Concerning, but for now, it's less of a problem.
Sigh... but I did unwittingly make a mess of the Steam Cloud saves trying to work through this. Now there's a potentially corrupt data base online that I must clear out. Cloud sync has been turned off for the game until then - guess I'll have to backup these particular files the old-fashioned way (at least that method works).
