Mayor Lewis Purple Shorts

hi, I know the purple shorts are at Manrie's and I spent a good amoun time to be friends with her and just became friends.. but I dont see the purple shorts in her dresser, it only tells me "brown pair suspenders" along with dresses etc. in her wardrobe, I searched her entire room and I can't find the shorts, am I missing something? Thanks!

No I dont already have the shorts, I talked to the mayor and nothing happened, I never saw the shorts or anything.. and I got the quest during beginning of summer I believe and became Manrie's friend around end of summer and thats when I went to check for shorts and they aren't there
