I can't bring myself to play.
I really like the game... but I screwed up.

I spent all of my cash on crops at the end of the season not knowing they would die...

Yeah.

I'm at the point where I am a bit to far to restart but not far enough to be motivated to save the farm.

I need some inspiration to get me back in there... what is something really cool that I can work towards in the game?

*I accidently learned about the secret animal so theres that, but the odds of me getting it are really slim.

Just restart the game. You have a better idea of what you're doing now so you can play the first season more optimally.

Don't worry mate, you are not alone. I've done it long time ago, in the harvest moon anyways.
I can't say some inspiration, but how about think that you just start session at summer instead of spring. A false truth, but if it can help, anything goes.

Yeah, your probably right.

I'm just not looking forward to doing a lot of stuff again.

That's exactly what happened to me.

I just started over and made a ♥♥♥♥ ton more money the second time around.

Yeah.

Probably for the best that I restart. Also when do you get the horse? Running everywhere got pretty tiring after a while.

You learn a lot from mistakes, it will be much more efficient the next time 'round.

Video games are about trial and error. Don't give up!

Be sure to watch your tv every morning or evening... knowing the weather for the next day is handy, as is learning cooking recipes from the cooking show (yes, even before you can cook) and gameplay tips from the survival show.

Why not continue playing, OP? I routinely drop down to 0 dollars whenever I play this game, but you can easily make a fresh pile of money by doing mining runs or selling fish.

I kinda did a messy job with layout and such the first time 'round.

everytime someone posts something liek this it always baffles me heheh... it says its a spring crop and its how its always worked in harvest moon type games... but hey guess not everyone playign this ahs played a harvest moon game... and you can start making kegs and turn your farm into a winery that will make you a millionaire once you get a high enough level in farming...

I was doing really well the 2nd time around so I got my stable during Fall Year 1.

No need to totally restart! Remember that there are other ways to make cash. Forage, fight, fish, etc. It can be rough, but it's possible. =)

Or restart, sure. Use the knowledge you have now to prosper.

And on your restart, invest in and join in the Cauliflowering. Become one of us. Yes.

(I should have enough for the first house upgrade by around Summer 8. Would be there already if not for pesky tool upgrading)

I'm guessing you mean the Spring/Summer season change, and not further along...

I'd suggest restarting, but:

Maybe consider a no-crop play?

Since the last patch, the only pseudo-time limit this game had has been removed, so "losing a year" changes nothing.

Keep playing, but don't plant any crops your first year. Focus on the other things: mining, fishing, foraging, relationships, animals.

I'm not saying this is an especially efficient approach (restarting would be more efficient), but this could certainly give you a different experience of the game.
