How long to have a chance to get large milk?

How long does it take (presuming I'm petting the animal each day) to get enough friendship to have a chance to get large milk? How many hearts are needed? In particular, I'm interested in goats (they are foiling my plan to have the greenhouse before winter).

3+ hearts from memory, it was one of the last items I needed.

For me I think it started around 1 <3 or 1.5 <3, it actually wasn't that long before they started to produce it. I got goats about early/mid winter and by the end of winter I was getting large goat milk regular
EDIT: could have been more hearts but it was less than half a season before I started getting large milk from em.

They do not need any Hearts to produce large Milks.
edit: Maybe just wait a few Days before you milk them, so they produced enough Milk for a large one? I usually do not milk them every day, and they always (!) produce large Milks.

I wish I had your luck :'(

It's only because I didn't need it (I already bought one from the wagon lady earlier for the bundle set). As soon as I need something for a bundle it takes ages >.<

She helped alot, bought a bunch of stuff from her so I could complete bundles early. Costs a lot of $$$ though. Also from what I have now seen it is not possible to complete the center until Summer Year 2 (it will be Fall Y2 for me because of stupid apples and Pomegranates) so no real reason to rush

Well, I think it'll take ages for me to unlock whole Community Center due to fishing. I was just interested in getting the greenhouse before winter to plant something other than wild seeds.

Fish to me looked difficult but I tended to get most of them through various means (drops, random fishing etc). Only one I am missing now is an eel which needs rain. Rain seems to be rare for me >.<
