Personally I was immediately drawn to Sebastian. There was little reasoning as to why I decided I liked this particular character, I simply found him to be the most attractive of the bachelors and figured he'd be a good match aesthetically as my own character is quite moody in her appearance as well.
It isn't surprising to me that he's (if this is truly the case) the popular choice, I have always gravitated toward his character's personality archetype and so have others like me.
And then his Mum saw me following him and goes "My son REALLY likes Obsidian btw", so seems like she's looking out for him for sure.
He's such a child.
Dunno why Shane got added as a marriage candidate, he's just been rude to me every time I've seen him. X(
I'm just saying. It's kind of telling that Sebs lives in the basement while his half-sister gets a whole huge room all to herself.
We don't really know Sebastian's past, only that his real dad is gone, and that he wants to leave Pelican Town. It could be that he's angry at his mom for settling in the tiny town, when he'd rather be in the big city. He often hangs out at the train tracks and ocean, which could be a nod to his wanting to leave. He saved up money by working online (probably due to having few job opportunities in PT) to get a motorcycle so he can leave the town.
It's shown that Demetrius doesn't really "get it" sometimes. He has a book about how to be a better stepfather, and has a cutscene or two where he makes Robin angry because he has to stroke his ego. Furthermore, if Sebastian did like his father, he would resent both Robin and Demetrius.
Sebby has a few dialogue things that say Maru was the "star child" of the family. He wants to be left alone, but also wants attention. That's just how introverts are. Maru plays an active role in the family, and has obvious talent. Sebastian keeps his programming to himself and I'm not sure if he invites his family to see him perform with the band in Zuzu City. (Sam's cutscene.)
On the topic of his friends, I'm not sure what their deal is. Sam and Seb don't seem to have much in common, aside from being nerds. I guess that's enough. Seb and Abby likely bonded due to their liking of the paranormal.
All this considered...
- He despises living in Pelican Town, and likely resents his mom for staying there. Despite this, he's willing to stay here, for the player.
- He's an introvert, but he happily moves in with you.
Plus, Seb has some of THE best dialogue post-marriage.
"I had a nightmare last night, so I got up and went for a walk... Want some coffee?"
"Be careful if you go down to the mines... Make sure to bring some sturdy boots."
"You look cold... Here, come closer..."
And he has one that's something like "You know that I love you more than anything, right?"
I just remember marrying Abby and all the dialogue was "Here, have a bomb for breakfast". :P
2. It never says anything, but if you marry him? He keeps talking about how he feels a lot more comfortable in the marriage home than the old home he lived in, and how he actually feels wanted. Including that Maru must be happy.
3. Oh, no, Demetrius is an extrovert. He's just also a workaholic. They aren't exclusive.
If only women in real life were into socially awkward, introverted loners :(
If you're ugly, and don't talk to people, odds are you're gonna stay alone. If you're pretty and don't talk to people, there's a chance someone will approach you. :P Yay, genetics!
I like this too
#Depression
So long as they don't act entitled to women and whine about Nice Guys Always Finish Last.
All the spouses have something up with them. I've only romanced Harvey, Shane and Elliot so far for the men.
Shane's an obvious alcoholic with depression and anxiety.
Elliot seems like he's Lord Byron half the time, and then lays in bed for days on end before coming out of his slump to recite poetry.
Harvey is crushed by his fears and eyesight preventing him from doing what he really wanted in life and in turn feels like he's missing something, paired with not being able to find enough clients to sustaine himself.
So Sebastian being a social outcast who doesn't feel loved (which I can't blame him because Demitrius is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) makes sense. They've all got baggage, just depends on whose you'd rather help carry.
When he took me on a night ride on his bike, to look at the moon, the stars and the city skyline, I fell in love.

Then we kissed, while watching the city in the distance, on a chilly winter Tuesday night.

It was so romantic. I had to wait until spring to propose. It was worth it. End of story. :D
