Do Crab Pots Actually Level Up Your Fishing?

Just wondering cause im using 20 a day and for quite awhile and i havnt gone up a single level.

I actually saw my level increased after a while since I have been using much more than 20 (poor beach). I am certain that I had no Rod that day.

I amend my last statement it does!
For those who are wondering, each time there is a fish in the pot (not trash) you gain 5 exp. fishing gives way more upto ~5x more.

Then its a bug :/ . I was using CE to check the exp and i got 4xp after picking up the broken glasses from the crab pot.

Double post, sorry... But it does seem that using crab pots give you exp. 5 no matter what you get, fish, trash, everything.

Please note in that picture, the "16520" is level 10 fishing, so i had to lower it. The 3 at the top was me fishing trash out of the pond at home.

i am guessing it should since now they have classes for regular fishing and crab pot
