Yeah, this isn't working for me, either. Which is kind of irritating because I normally would plan around such a thing when upgrading, but the patch notes said I wouldn't have to.

hmm could it be in a chest somewhere... it wouldnt be able to respawn if it isnt destroyed... but it could jsut be bugged out it is a game made by one person IM amazed its not way buggier imo...

I dont think you can lose it, I thought that I lost my axe once and then found that I had accidentally put it into one of the storage chests.

same problem i was just moving my stuff around from chests because i upgraded my house now i cant find my watering can

Look in ALL storage containers, including the fridge and the autograbber. Tip: if you auto-sort the contents of the contrainer, it typically puts tools in the first slots.

I lost mine recently after coming back to the game after a few days. I had forgotten that it was with the blacksmith for an upgrade.
