Stables or Big Barn/Coop?
I was leaning towards building a large barn first, instead of a stable, since I'm not sure how useful the horse is.

Stable, 100%. Getting places faster means you can do more in a day. I can't live without my horse anymore.

Protip; build it right next to your house so you dont have to walk across half the farm to get it.

Horse all the way. It requires no petting or food. if you leave it out somewhere it returns to the stable in the morning. the boost to your mobility will shave hours out of your routine if it involves trips to the beach or even the mines. all this meaning you can make more money per day. granted you can have more cows or goats but i find that I use the horse much more often. coop is better than barn if you are low on funds and need to get a few items for the bundles. I would go stables then coop and finally barn. but alas this is your game and if you dont travel much outside your farm then the coop or barn may be better. it all depends on how mobile you are.

This. I don't know how many people I've seen with the stable on the other side of their farm and I'm just like "the hell are you doing?!"

While I don't have room right next to my house, there's space just across the path I made in my farm just by the front door to get to it from there.

well it's all down to what you want your farm to look like in the end. but that's fine for what I would consider close to the house compared to say, the other side of the greenhouse.

Horse is worth its weight in gold and put the stable near your house so you can grab the horse quick if you need to get somewhere fast.

The stables were smaller than I expected, but I still put it just across from my house. So it's like five-ten steps from my front door.

I've been using my coop for a stable income of eggs to make fried eggs everyday for the dungeons, now I have over 100 fried eggs.

Not as much time wasted collecting tree seeds or fish.

The coop for me.

Question about the horse: Do you have to get off of it to pick loot off the ground/talk to people/enter houses etc? eg, if I have to mount/dismount every 5 seconds, I will pass. If one can stay on the horse the entire time, that's fine, then. :)

You can open gates and the shipping bin while on the horse, just about about everything else requires you to get off to interact though.
robruckus65 Mar 12, 2016 @ 10:30pm
you have to mount and dismount all teh time but it ahppens instantly... you click the horse youa re on you click of fthe horse you are off not a second is wasted... and the horse is easily the greatest thing in the game besides iridium sprinklers...

^ Still more clicks then I think I'd like. Never met a (non-specific racing) game yet where I liked horse/vehicle inclusion. Still...when I get around to it I'll try it at least.

Can I sell the horse for glue if I don't care for it? *wink
