Grass?
How exactly do I grow my own grass?

Purchase grass starters from Pierre's shop (they're fairly cheap, I believe) and place them on untilled land at your farm. As time passes, the grass will begin to spread (fairly quickly, actually).

Grass should spawn naturally every Spring, but if you're new and accidentally cut down all your grass before you built a silo you'll have to plant grass starters to help feed animals.

If you grow your own grass, the police might show up, though. :p

as psychgamer said.. buy it, seed it.. it grows fast.. but you can even wait some days and there will be grass patches over your farm somewhere :)

Does anyone else have the problem that despite their best efforts they can't keep enough grass to have a full farm? I had to sell off more than half my animals after one season even though I had three silos full of grass.

From what I understand 1 farm animal uses 1 hay per day. 1 Silo is 240 hay, 1 lowest-level barn / coop houses 4 animals.

So 1 Silo should be able to feed 10 animals for 24 days ( Just shy of the 28-day winter).

IMHO grass starters should be bought and planted in the animal paddoc so your animals can come outside and graze during the Spring - Autum months and use the Silo feed for winter only.

On the other hand my problem is that I wanted to be a Livestock farmer but by the time I've petted, fed and picked up the produce from 2 full barns and 1 coop ( At level 3 'Deluxe' they house 12 animals, 36 for my farm in total ) there isn't any more time in the day to do much of anything else :(

Edit: As for the other grass, I usually have a small area which I dedicate to some starters in the Spring and I let it grow and spread until Autum day 26 / 27 ( two days before it dies off ) to fill my Silo or top it up.

How do you deal with the low growing rate of the grass.... my animals eat it faster than it grows... :(

The trick seems to be to put them in among grass that's already spread out enough that it won't really take a big hit when the animals eat from it. Try buying a few grass starters, like 4 or 5, and putting them spread out in your pasture (or wherever your animals graze), then leave your animals in the barn/coop for a week or two, to give the grass a chance to grow nicely.

I do wish that when spring came around, it'd give you grass in all the places you had it at the end of fall, or even like half of them. :/
