I think it's getting multiplayer? Wouldn't sandbox make sense for multiplayer?
But by the general definition, i see no problems with a sandbox tag. The game opens up almost completely during your first few days and you decide what you want to do.
You can even dabble in all of the above.
Except it isn't linear at all. Grow crops, fishing, mining and none of it is ever forced on the player.
It is not a pure sandbox nor as sandbox as true building/exploration type games, but within its genre, it's sandbox-ish. Open ended (don't have to do the social, don't have to do the bundles, don't have to ...) and up to the player what goals they want to pursue.
