There is such a thing as a practical dress/skirt (I have gone swordfighting in such irl), and skirts do not necessitate high heels. Don't automatically assume the extreme end of the spectrum.

Oh my, you did not just played the sexist card.

Anyways, spoilers ahead: If you befriend the wizard (4 hearts), you gain access to a room in his tower, which lets you change your character like in the character creation screen. So you can at least change your default shirt.

I'd consider putting "Equipable shirts/dresses" up in the suggestion threads on here, reddit or over at the chucklefish forums.
