Any way to use mods and still get achievements?
I've been using SMAPI with easier fishing and time slowdown mods (because I like my days to be longer and fishing to not be asinine with meh tier fish). I've noticed that using mods like those make it so achievements won't come up on Steam. So is there any way to be able to use mods and still get achievements or am I stuck with vanilla mode for that?

I don't think you should get the achievements if you are making it easier to get, thats no achievement at all. I'm all for mods though to make it how you want, but if it makes it easier to get them then I think its not right.

I never said that... they can play however they want... but getting achievements no... the achievements are put tehre by the developer as thigns you earn playign teh game how they envisioned it...making fishing easier completely destroys teh challenge of the fishing achievements... mots games on steam dont allow achievements in modded games...and Im compeltly okay with it...
Just run the game normally without the API and the achievements should pop.

Or you can run the API through steam using %command%, posted from community forums

There is an alternate method to start StardewModdingAPI.exe on Steam, by using the %command% method on the launch option for Stardew Valley on Steam.

It involves right clicking on the game on steam, and clicking on Properties, then going to the "Set Launch Options" button.
From there, I used the %command% method. E.g. "(add the location of Stardew Valley)\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command% , then applying it.
To repeat the example again, here's how I set it up:

"J:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%

Just be sure to change the directory above to the location of Stardew Valley, and the StardewModdingAPI.exe file.

It worked for me, and I can open the steam overlay from the game - the Modding API console also appears when I run it straight from steam.

This won't result in a VAC ban will it?

You can only get a VAC ban in games with VAC servers and this game doesnt have any servers.

Off-topic question, but now I'm curious: does this work for Skyrim's SKSE too?

I'm not sure but you can install SKSE from steam and run it from here, just search SKSE in the store.

secrets of grindea uses a similar fishing system but unlike this one the one in SOG actually works.

this one works Im only missing a handful of fish 2 of which are legendary...it took a little bit of getting used too but once I did I found it to work rather well and be rather fun...my only problem with it is the difculty for some of thie fish is odd... a big tuna should eb waay harder to catch than a puffer fish...

Eh, the only mod I've used was changing the portraits for some of the characters. Thought they looked better than the vanilla ones. Hopefully that doesn't lock me out of achievements.

I use portraits freeze time inside and slower time speed and still get achievements

I've done that all abd it doesn't work for me.. I've gotten a 5 heart relationship with someone and it didn't give me the achievement
