Largemouth is somewhat harder to catch than most other fish at the lake (Sturgeon, Lingcod, and Legend are the only ones that are harder, IIRC). If you spend a whole day (morning to sunset) fishing at the lake (and from my extensive experience, the exact location is entirely irrelevant), and catch every single fish that comes up, and you're STILL getting no Largemouths whatsoever, then there's definitely a bug at work.
If, however, even a few fish escape you every time you go there to fish, then there's a chance you're simply losing all of the Largemouths and catching only the easier fish. A lot of people seem to have difficulty playing this mini-game properly, and some people don't even realize that the fish they aren't catching are actually of a completely different type than the fish they are catching. Again, I'm not here to offend anyone, but this is the only way I can explain what I'm reading here without jumping to the conclusion that it's a really weird bug that only happens to some people and not others...
Also note that fishing after sunset doesn't count - Largemouth disappear from the lake at around 7 pm.
I read a few posts in the past from people who were unaware that you need to click-and-hold to throw your line further out into the water. I also read somewhere that throwing further away from the shore will net you different types of fish. I don't tend to throw at less than MAX strength unless I have to (ripples, ice-fishing, etc.), so I couldn't say with 100% certainty that the rumor wasn't true. Therefore, I figured that maybe the problem here was that the people who weren't catching Largemouth were simply not throwing the line far enough away, and the Largemouth simply weren't biting the line at all.
So I went to check it myself, by fishing at the lake and throwing the line only a minimal distance into the water, and by doing so I think I can finally put those rumors to rest: The first fish I caught was a Sturgeon, the next one was a Largemouth. Therefore, coupled with all of my past experience in fishing, I can say pretty conclusively that throwing distance absolutely does not affect the types of fish that will bite your hook.
So if you see people spreading that old rumor, please ask them to stop that. It's not helping anybody.
Tose are SMALLmouth bass
Sorry for spelling mistakes, excuse my English
i tried that mod once and could find a largemouth bass either, after deleting the mod i got a largemouth bass on the second try or so..
While fishing takes a while to master, the largemouth bass isn't very difficult to catch. It's the most valuable fish that I can catch from lvl 1 so I try and spend some time catching them early in game when I need a few extra hundred cash.
I love the fishing game so much so it's a fun way for me to spend a bit of time. Once I realised that the fishing skill levels regardless of whether you can catch anything I stopped getting frustrated by the fish that I can't catch. I will catch them later when I level up and upgrade my gear ;)
