Largemouth Bass - Elusive!

So I checked the wiki and threads here and everything says... go to lake NE of Robin's house by the mine. Ok no problem! I started in Summer and am in Fall now and can't get a single largemouth bass! I've tried different spots around the lake. I've fished morning, evneing, night, rain, sun...

Am I missing something? I have tons of chub, carp, walleye, and bullheads...

I got it from the dumpster. :p
After that I had one from the mine lake, that's about it.

Sounds like you're doing everything right... not sure what to add.

They're slightly rare, but what you're describing sounds like a bug or highly impressive bad luck.

According to the wiki, it's just "Lake, daytime". Season & weather doesn't matter. This fits with my personal experience.

The only thing I can think of is maybe try to cast as far from land as possible, with max cast. I'm not sure what effect these things have exactly, but they apparently increase quality. I've also heard that they might help with "better" catches (i.e. more rarer/harder fish), though that's unconfirmed as far as I know.

Try the southern tip of the island in the center of the lake, or the southern little part of land on the east side of the lake.

Maybe it's just your position? I'm in late fall and have caught dozens of largemouth bass in this season alone (which is when I started doing the fishing). I think I remember starting to catch them around level 5 or so -- perhaps it has to do with your level?

I fish that same lake, off the second little island (after crossing two boards/bridges). Fishing down from the southern tip of that island. That's where I've caught plenty.

If all that checks out, maybe it's just pure bad luck :P Try the two different spinner tackles and see if they help somehow. Good luck!

Ha. Saw that tip in another thread so tried that. Same deal.

I'm fishing level 6 right now... don't have any spinners or tackle, just rocking the fiberglass rod with bait. I'll look into the tackle.

Ya it's pretty annoying. This is literally the last fish I need for the fish tank!

You'll get it :) Fishing is pretty easy to level up and once you're rocking an iridium rod with bait n tackle, you'll bring home 40+ fish on a good day (including some of those elusive ones).

You can also try fishing the same spot, but from the right side down by the bridge (right of the mine). Not sure it will make any difference, so hopefully it will bring about some random luck just by chaning something :P

I'm not even sure I had the fiberglass rod yet when I caught my first largemouth. I certainly didn't have iridium.

I think I was level 2-4 or so.

My first one was caught fishing from the top of the first island (the one with two bridges), in the little channel between the island and the land in front of the mine.

Honestly, I got the large mouth bass from befriending Linus and he sent me one in the mail. I don't think I even caught one for myself until much later.

Yep, that spot should give gold quality fish as well. It can take time to catch one as there are other fish there as well.

Here's another thought: can you craft wild bait?

Might want to try that; it seems to attract the rarer fish, so that might help, since the lake is filled with carp & chub.

I caught like 10 largemouth bass one after the other next to the mine

In the future, try the lake between Leah's cabin and the wizard's tower in the forest. In spring, Largemouth Bass is all i can fish there.

Got like 7 in the summer and 8 in the winter, not even trying to get them :P Try the lake by the mine.
