Do Spouses lose their intersts?
I'm enjoying the game (still very new) soo far and am flirting it up with 2 of the girls and 3 of the guys. I'm curious though, if marrying them takes away their special activites? Do they just sit at home afterwards? Or does Sam still play in his band, does Abigail still go to the bridge to stare at the water, etc? I'm a little worried if they become cookie cutter husband/wife instead of who they are.

It appears they still do their stuff, at least Penny does. She still tutors the kids in the town, like she did before.

I married Sam. He never plays guitar, or hangs out with Sebastian at the Saloon, or ever leaves the farm (he does attend festivals). He appears now to have "spouse personality." You get a spouse room added to the house, and he goes in there every once and a while. But the behavior and dialog is devoid anything he was like before marriage.

I've only played the one game, so don't have any experience with any of the others. But my expectation right now is "cookie cutter husband/wife" with some exceptions. Penny being the major one from what I've read, that's only because she apparently leaves the farm regularly.

^ exactly, Sam got the whole spouse / true partner thing at home, he lost his feel with music, he doesn't continue with his band WHEN I WANTED HIM TO, he doesn't go hang out at the beach anymore with his brother, go to his family's house to check up ya know? go work at the joja mart like he did b4 or hang out with sebastian, outside of his house or in his room, or MY HOUSE. he basically is a house hubby :x

been hoping they'd continue their life style instead of staying home all the day cause THATS MY JOB xD

you need to talk to your spouse otherwise you will lose hearts too

That's pretty lame. I rather not lose the character that my character fell in love with for them to become cookie cutter.

Is there a way to get vocal or at least let the awesome developer know we'd like to see our choosen wife or husband to retain their personality? I really don't want to marry any of them if they lose their lifestyle in the process. I don't want generic husband Sam. I want Sam. :<

Penny, Harvey, and possibly Maru maintain a life outside of your house but they still melt into the same generic spouse as everyone else. Even when they manage to drag themselves away from your farm (at festivals) they're just like "I won't hook up with anyone else, no worries!" Their life is just you 24/7.

CA has said himself that he's open to expanding post-marriage life and is probably going to, though.

That's what I was really conerned with. If I choose Alex, I'd still expect him to be sporty, all about the muscle, and expect him to play ball and go to the beach in summer. If him, Sam, Harvey, Elliott, and Sebastion all say the same and behave mostly the same. It just takes aways everything from them. Same with the girls. I was deciding between them, and then I wondered about this. I guess I'm staying single. :<

Tweet at him.

To be honest, there's no way that he doesn't know this is a sticking point. The only thing we can do is hopefully raise it up his priority list.

There's no way in hell this isn't a first-pass attempt at marriage. It functions like the old HM games did, and therefore is good enough to ship. Surely he's gonna go back and give them back their routines and personalities. The question is, when?

I'm hoping for a date-night mechanic. Or for them to do a thing on the farm appropriate to their interests. Abigail dungeon delves. Leah forages. Sebby/Elliot sell their code/books

Thanks for the link, I may make a Twitter just for this. I really am loving this game and the characters. I'd hate to doom Sam, Alex, Leah, etc. to a simple household husband or wife. I am starting to really love Sam's character, and that alone makes marrying him to the point he loses his personality and lifestyle disgusting to me. :<

Sam would occasionally disappear as well, but that seems to have stopped after the latest patch. Or maybe it's just random and he just hasn't taken off again yet.

This is a huge problem with the game with me. I really want more personality for the spouses.

its just a game lol

Yes I married Sebastian and he never even goes further than the front door lol. Its really sad to see him just cooped up in the house all day staring at the house plant. I want to see him going to the Saloon on Fridays and hanging out with Sam, or hell, have Sam come over to our place! I feel like the game totally being void of everyone not acknowledging your marriage is strange too. And you can still activate heart events with the other bachelors/bachelorettes. I feel like this is one of the biggest issues people are talking about so hopefully something changes.

I kinda wish you could go on dates too, pre and post marriage, but I would take a personality fix first. They seem to become robots after marriage hah.
