...she eats gems like nothing. XD
Personally, I think it would be better to add a more mineral/gem specific response to the gift to show her interest in the category. She could comment that she loves amethyst as it suits her hair color, or something.
I've seen people like that in real life. I knew a guy who, anytime he was handed a piece of paper, would wad it up and shove it in his mouth. He would also eat certain flowers in front of people, one petal at a time, just to see their reactions.
But when it comes to quartz or gems, she can either eat them or not. Occam's Razor = ConcernedApe had an error in his coding where the check for item type was not coded properly. That means there was no intention to make Abigail eat flowers and rocks. It is amusing, but to make an error in coding into a character trait that doesn't make sense, unless she is non-human, is up for debate.
A crate of amethyst tho... she'd have to think about that.
Oh Abby... please be more adorkable, I don't love you enough yet <3
quote from their official wiki: "-Abigail enjoys eating quartz, an item that ranks at a seven on the Mohs hardness scale - this is tougher than iron, but not as tough as hardened steel.".
It's in the trivia section: http://stardewvalleywiki.com/Abigail
Between him and the circus blockhead who would snort chains up one nostril and pull it out the other, I was always kept entertained. The blockhead was an absolute blast at the bars. People learned not to make any bets against him very quick... it's probably a good thing he hadn't yet progressed to eating glass. It was on his to-do list, though.
