Whats the best path to not get overwritten by the landscape. Or does it matter?

Indeed, "what?" seems to fit this thread very well.

To my knowledge, none of the pathways you can craft have any differences other than cosmetic. Also to my knowledge, all of them prevent random acts of landscaping (like the sudden appearance of rocks).

Interesting. And unsettling.

You should only have branches destroy paths in the season change from winter to spring (winter is hard on stuff), or if there's a rock/branch next to the pathway. Rocks and branches propagate themselves to destroy your stuff. Encroaching winderness and all. Clear them all when you can.

I'm pretty sure tall grass doesn't effect anything though. Have'nt had it destroy any path I have next to it.

It wasn't the hay-for-food kind of grass it was the gives-the-fiber kind of grass.
