Transfering a non-steam copy of Stardew valley to a steam coppy, how do?
Kinda douche question, but, I absolutely love this game, I do kinda of a 'demo' of each game I'm thinking about purchasing cause the money income isn't that heavy, but this game is absolutely spectaculer. Is there a way to transfer a non steam file saved game over to a steam saved game and recieve the updates without any progress lost? If not I'm 100% fine with it, I'm getting this game either way, but would prefer to transfer my other games saved file over. Thanks in advance!

It's simple
Step 1 install the legitimate copy
Step 2 Launch the game
Step 3 There is no step 3 required.

Thanks for your reply, will this transfer my 'non-legit' copy straight over, or will there be any other work I need to do to get it to work, Like I said before, this game is amazing and either way is fine for me, thanks in advance.

I first used a 'non-legit' copy too, because i never heard of the game before and you know what everybody is saying about Indie Developers and/or EA Games. It was the 'pirated steam' copy. Then i heard (and informed) myself a little bit more about the game and then i saw that this was made in 4 years by just one guy, so i bought it ASAP. The savegames are compatible.

I even wrote a e-mail to ConcernedApe about this:

Dear Concerned Ape,

thank you very much for this awesome amazing lovely detailed game.
This is the game many players searched and wanted for so long!

And you did it, alone, a 1-man-project, it took you 4 years!

With this e-mail i want to tell you that i first pirated the game, because
i had no information on this and was like:

"Oh, another indie game, where you can be a farmer or something,
i bet this is mostly crap and boring like all the other indie games..."

I was so f*cking wrong!!!

Then i started my research. This game... one man only, took him 4 years
of development and it is so f*cking awesome and everyone is like really
hyped and playing the sh*t out of it :D And you keep throwing out patches
or updates and you're listening to your community... your fans!

It was my duty to BUY this game!

It just fills me with so much joy, seeing one man can do this impressive
thing and is like flipping the finger to all those Triple-A-Games (AAA Games)
like - i don't know - Assassins Creed and stuff.

Your game feels like a AAAA-Game - and it's for only 14 Euro on Steam right
now, not like the other AAA-Games who want to spend 50-60 Euro on them.

I told everyone of my friends about the whole thing and that they should check
it out and buy it on Steam (or GOG - or Humble).

My only wishes to you are:

- maybe make 'fishing' a little bit easier. There are already mods out that make
it easier, maybe just check them out and integrate them into the game with a
update in the future and of course paying respect to the original modder in the
patch notes :)

- more languages? A game in different languages means more players. I'm fine
with english, but there are maybe younger players that aren't so good in the
english language.

I don't know what i can offer... maybe helping translate the game into german
for free. I think there will be community mods for every language, but you know...
i just have a better feeling when there will be 'official translations' made by the
developer himself. I know that community translations are mostly near perfect
but it's just this feeling i have... like... "ok it is in my language now, but it is a
mod made by the community and not by the developer, it's nothing official!"

Yeah, that's how my brain is working haha, i'm weird :D

And now go and take a bath in all that money you surely made in the last days!

I bought it. It's all cool now. Nobody is hurt or damaged anymore :> ConcernedApe is pretty chill about that "You pirated it first?" thingy, i can tell you.
