Mining advice?
I just started to get into mining but so far it seems really unproductive (as in after an in game week all I really have ot show is a bunch of stone and a handful of copper ore).

Does anyone have any tips or is it pretty much just get to a deeper level?

Pretty much go to a deeper level. Like iron ore nodes isn't until lvl 40+ I think.

Different monsters that drop different things, and the little chest-prize at certain level points.
Keep it up, you get better skills as you go deeper into the mine and you have better chances at weapons etc., if you kill monsters a lot.
You can get gold, artifacts, etc.,
My suggestion is open up the Quarry as quick as possible. It has a plethora of materials and gems that regen daily (make sure to clear the space completely). I ended up getting a bunch of gold, rubies, emeralds, prismatic shards...etc.

Just know that they ALL don't regen daily, just random ones.
Once you get to floor 40, the ore will change from copper to iron (as well as literally everything else) and at floor 80, it becomes gold.
If you can fully sweep floors 80-120 you could easilty earn several thousands in cash from gold bars from but a few of them. I believe more expensive gems spawn more commonly below 80 too.
Probably Don't start ine until you get the first backpack upgrade.

Probably focus on getting every 5 levels to reach the new checkpoint, while maybe picking up some ore nodes

Probably Don't start level 40-80 mines until you get the first mining pick upgrade. The second mining pick upgrade is debatable for 80-120

Probaby Don't ever buy equipment from the guild. You can get mostly usable gear either from natural drops or the ever 20 floor chest rewards.
Thanks :)
Better stuff lies in deeper levels. That being said, I ran out of stone early, farmed in the mine and quarry, and eventually bought several hundred from Clint. If you use stone fences, you can run out of stone easy.

I have decent supplies of copper, but iron is a problem late game; especially if you want bombs for the skull cave. For me, the productivity of the mines lies not in how much money I make but in the resources I gather. Luck seems to play a big part of that too.
The deeper you go, the more worthwhile it is, but it's tough if you don't have the first bag upgrade. Even at level 15, you'll be trying to pick and choose which shiny valuable thing you want to leave behind, until you can get the 24-slot pack.

Don't go in unless you've got time to make it through five levels, to make it to the next elevator point (every fifth level -- 5, 10, 15, etc). You'll get a new gear item every 10 levels (new boots or a new weapon), and on some of the elevator levels are pools where you can catch unique fish that are needed for the bundles.

You'll find yourself going back to clear out the first few levels for stone, if you intend to build paths or fences, and for farm buildings / upgrades. But, unless you're needing stone, don't try to clear out every boulder -- pick out the ores and gems, kill the mobs, then hit the ladder downward if it's there (though you might have to boulder-smash anyway to look for it). You'll wear out your energy far too fast, especially early on.

Luck does have an impact, as well -- the higher the Fortune Teller says your luck is, the more likely you'll find good gems and ore nodes.

I find that going through 80-82 and just grabbing/mining anything valuable works quite well, just rinse and repeat, you can get a good 3-4k everyday, also sometimes a ton of mushrooms will spawn, grab as many as you can, i did and got about 10-11k out of it.

Always take a good healing item with you, upgrade your pickaxe, and do not start mining unless you have at least the first backpack upgrade, or you might have to throw (granted, at the beginning worthless) things away that you find.
Also, just get to a deeper level, as everyone said. Every five levels there is an elevator, and for me that was always my daily objective. A friend played 10 levels each day.

Also if you can spare the copper, crafting cherry bombs can be a huge help. You'll blast away a large amount of rocks in seconds. Quite effective.
It gets easier that's all I have to add. Mining started out like a chore and I didn't really attack the mines full on until the first winter by the time you find yourself a good enough sword (where it only takes 2-3 swipes to take out slimes at the lower levels) you'll easily come out with 40-50 pieces of ore each time you visit the mines. Using explosives is a lot of fun as well!

It's not about sparing copper, it's about being able to spare the COAL. Coal is kind of difficult to find in this game. Either the coal sprites, which only drop it occasionally, or randomly find coal by mining random rocks.
Or finding it on random bag/minecart. still, It isn't easy to find.

Coal is really easy to get, as long as you're willing to get the wood to make it. Just make a Charcoal Kiln and there you go. Although it does take ten pieces of wood for one piece of coal, but at least wood is a lot easier to obtain. Plus it's a help that a lot of things that require coal only make you use one piece (cherry bombs only make you use one, smelting a bar only makes you use one etc). I'm pretty sure the game lets you know about Charcoal Kilns pretty early on though..? So I'm not sure why you both omitted that as a method of getting coal, unless you just forgot about it.

This will sound really violent, but kill whatever you can find. Monsters can drop different items. Ores, bug meat, even artifacts such as Dwarf Scroll I, II, III, or IV. I'd say between level 1-40 don't attempt to clear out the whole floor since you most likely won't find anything aside from stone and copper ore, so jump down a ladder when you find one. You can always use the escalator to return to these levels if you wish to get stone / fiber / copper ore easily. Otherwise get as deep as you can in the mines, since you will most likely find valuables there. I normally find floors 50 - 65 quite useful for finding minerals as well as floor 110 - 120 as the monsters tend to drop very variable items there. Also I'm not entirely sure if this affects what you find, but make sure you go on a "lucky" day. Apparently on a lucky day less monster hoards occur (whether that's good or bad it's up to you, I like hoards for some reason) and you may find more rare items compared to an unlucky day. You can check this using the TV in your house. But for that last point don't take my word for it because I'm not sure if it's true, but I know it's helped me in the past!
