How long does it take to upgrade the watering can?
It's raining and I figured I'd upgrade my watering can today. When I gave it to Clint, he said it would take a couple of days. Which makes no sense, but also makes me concerned for my crops.

Does anyone know how long it takes to upgrade your watering can?

Like he said ... a couple days.

Drop it off on morning of 13th, pick it up morning of 15th.

Edit: I tried going a day early/evening, btw ... he tells me it's not ready etc.

Will my crops die if I go a day without watering them?

No, they don't die - but it does delay their growing cycle by that amount.
You can wait for a rainy day to do it, or wait for winter and get all the upgrades one after another etc.

I personally find the watering can to be the least priority for upgrades, since later in the game you can just use automatic sprinklers.

but yes to answer the question every upgrades takes exactly 2 days.

Okay. Thanks for the answers guys!

Look at the weather report on you tv, if its says that is gonna rain tomorrow, water your crops and go upgrade your watering can. So you already water your crops, the next day is gonna rain so you dont need to water the crops, and the day after that you can pick you upgraded watering can on the blacksmith. So you do not spend a day without water your crops

Do it like this. Check if it's going to rain, if yes, water all your crops then drop it off to get an upgrade. It won't get done until the day after the rain, so you won't lose a day without watering your plants.

tool upgrades always take 2 days. so if you upgrade your watering can for example on the 13th you can pick it up on the 15th. That's why it's important to always check your TV for weather, if it rains the next day it's time to upgrade. or do it at the end of the month when your crops die anyways, or during the winter, but 2 days is the time it takes.

I didn't know crops stayed alive if you dont water them. That's a bit stupid IMO. I know this is supposed to be a fun "casual" style game.. but needs more challenging stuff in it.

Clever. I should have thought of that.

Avoiding time delay can be pretty important re: seasonal profit, especially 1st year/early on ... when trying to squeeze in the max amount of crop cycles for anything that takes a long time to mature.

This could really really really use a warning before you commit to it. I'm in my first year, had a group of 50 pumpkins set up to harvest right before winter starts... Figured I'd upgrade my watering bucket because that's my biggest time consumer right now, watering. Except lol, the two day wait will make all my pumpkins die because they won't be able to get harvested until the first day of winter. Had to reload my save, wasting a good fifteen or twenty minutes. Why wouldn't they give you a heads up before you commit your tools that it will take time. I didn't really think I was getting a copper plated watering bucket anyway, figured I was providing the raw materials for a copper watering bucket to be crafted, and the 2000g for the labor of creating it. Except now, apparently the dude is just adding copper to my already existing watering bucket? I shouldn't try to logic too hard in a game like this, but it's a tad frustrating lol.

But he is creating a brand new tool for you each time. The old one is destroyed in the molding process. At least, this is what I choose to believe, as layering on copper, steel, gold, and iridium would probably create an immensely heavy tool.
