Rune Factory 4 is the only one for 3DS, the other titles are for DS and other systems.
It's a nice one in my opinion.
And the only part you can choose the gender of your character.

Dunno about the Harvest Moon ones though.
I had plenty of fun with some of the GBA and early DS versions.

As far as a harvest moon type game for the 3ds I would recommend Story of Seasons. It is a great game that is the best to hit the 3DS in quite some time.

As far as harvest moon games they are decent but not as good as Story of Seasons.

Tale of Two Towns is my fave 3DS HM game. It's also on DS too. I love many aspects of it, including the dating system, trenches and alpacas. I love how the pets automatically bring your livestock in and out too every day. The two town setting is really cool, and it's the first time a HM had Asian style buildings.

Although it's not a true HM game, and people hate it because of that, The Lost Valley is actually pretty good. The landscaping building options opens up a ton of possibilities in customizating your huge valley. I have a ton of waterfalls all over, along with a swamp, lots of rivers/ponds, and a giant fortress. I made a moat with a castle in the middle of it. It's a little like HM meets Minecraft, but the building features isn't as indepth as Minecraft. I would love future games to expand on this. If you want to see pics of my valley, I could show some. Unfortunately, this game gets a ton of undeserved hate so you probably won't listen to me and go with the majority. I like how it gets rid of some stupid HM mechanics too in this game.

Honestly, I can only recommend Rune factory 4 (or 3 on the ds). The harvest moon / story of season games are just boring as heck now, especially after experiencing rune factory and stardew valley. I'm saying this as someone whose been a huge fan of HM ever since HM64.

I mean some people still like them, so you might too, but I think you'll see what I mean if you do.

Rune factory has combat and dungeons and befriending wild monsters, and in RF4 you can even bring townspeople out adventuring with you. I think it's your best best after stardew.

So can you tell me the differences in the three? harvest moon vs rune factory vs stardew valley?

Do they all have the ability to farm like stardew?
Kind of similair to animal crossing?

Animal Crossing has nothing to do with any of those games.

All 3 have in common that you can farm.
Stardew Valley is like Harvest Moon with some combat elements.
Rune Factory is more RPG with integrated farming elements.
RF also has a real story but you can keep playing after the end.

harvest moon is just farming... runefactory is in a fantasy world where oyu ffarm and fight monsters in dungeons and you can tame monsters and raise them... stardew valley plays like a more modern harvest moon...

Its quite odd, i see alot of people comparing harvest moon and rune factory to this, and even some say its a bit of a animal crossing type of game too "which i kind of see", but im looking for a game similair to this with the farming "gives me something chilled out to do", some fighting stuff "maybe just for the fun of it" and generaly something relaxed.

Im a massive anxiety and OCD sufferer including depression - sometimes i just need a game to relax with when things get a bit much, and i cant always be in range of my computer - thats why im looking for the best pick out of the harvest moon / rune factory type games.

Yes, it has farming and fishing and combat and monster (pet / animal) raising like stardew. As well as festivals and townsfolk that you can marry. And there's crafting / cooking too.

Sounds pretty awesome :D kind of sounds like theres alot that can be done - can the story be "put aside" and done later? im not so much intrested in story;s i just wanna farm and stuff
I've played Story of Seasons on 3DS and... Ehh, it wasn't thaaaaat great thing I was expecting. They added and changed "things" on the game, and if you're one of those "nostalgic" players, I guess you won't like it too much. Specially about the "how things happens" on it.

If you want go for something... Rune Factory 4 is great, really great. But if you want something more "casual", and still satisfatory to play, go for Animal Crossing.
(Sorry for grammar mistakes, english not native language :P )

I have animal crossing and LOVE it, only issue is i cant always attend it every day ^^ - its a great game, but im lookin for something more stardew valley kind of game. Something that can just be picked up and put down at will with no issue, and somewhere to get lost in time.
