Is how to do it - do back up your save before you mess with it though.. Otherwise its simply changing a number..
Is it true? If it is, then I should give him more purple mushrooms.
I don't think that's real. The only services that I know of in the Wizard's tower are the Shrine of Illusions, teleporter and magic building construction.
Also, unless you want that +50% Iridium bonus from the Purple Mushrooms, you can save 460g per gift by handing the Wizard some Solar Essence instead. Void Essence works too and will save you almost as much. It's really one of the easiest characters to get friendly with since those Loved gifts are both common and cheap.
50%+ Iridium bonus? Damn, I have to dive into Wikipedia again. Yea I know, I just got lucky with the RNG and got like 30 purple mushrooms. But I guess I'm gonna use them for that Iridium bonus.
If I recall correctly it's +10% Friendship points for Silver quality, +25% for Gold and +50% for Iridium. It's quite significant.
Being an avid Forager, I've been able to take advantage of these bonuses very often. Befriended half the villagers by throwing Iridium berries at them while passing by.
Oh yea now I get it, thanks. Unfortunately that's the exact opposite skill I choose. That's why I got here in the first place :D
I'm always going to go Artisan. The alternatives are just plain inferior, and by a lot.
I'm always going to go Botanist. Because items of a different quality still don't stack in the current version (and, again, the inferiority of the alternative professions), Botanist is pretty much mandatory.
I'm always going to go Pirate. Besides Crap Pots being mostly uninteractive (which, in my opinion, makes them boring), there is no reason to waste a level 10 profession on increasing the value of fish by a lousy 20%. Not when treasure chests can yield precious artifacts that are near-impossible to find otherwise as well as other convenient or valuable things.
Some of these things could indeed use some rebalancing, even if it's very moderate.
I was torn between Pirate and whatever the other one is that gives you more money per fish. You can use lures to make it more likely to get a treasure chest. I get quite a few already, although I can't snag the ones at the top yet. I'm working on that, though. Both seemed to have advantages.
I agree that some of the professions desperately need to be rebalanced. The farmer and the combat ones are probably the worst. And they should tell you what path you're choosing when you pick at level 5. E.g., when you get to the choice screen, it should say something like
Rancher, Animal products worth 20% more. Unlocks
1. Coopmaster, Befriend coop animals quicker. Incubation time cut in half. or
2. Shepherd, Befriend barn animals quicker. Sheep produce wool faster.
or
Tiller, Crops worth 10% more. Unlocks
1. Artisan goods (wine, cheese, etc.) worth 40% more. Oil is not worth more. or
2. Agriculturist, All crops grow 10% faster.
Not giving you the information is a trap for the unwary. It doesn't add anything and just makes the game frustrating for ppl.
Sure, you can look it up but you shouldn't need to. That's info that should be provided in game.
