Does anybody have any tips for stock management?
By that, I mean all the ♥♥♥♥ that I put in my chests. Its getting to the point where its a bit hard to manage it all. Hoping that the developer creates some kind of warehouse or something that has a larger storage capacity, but does anybody have any suggestions in the meantime? I generally like to try to keep my ♥♥♥♥ in case I need it for a quest, for cooking, for crafting, etc.

I have many chests. One for equipment (tools, fishing tackle, rings, swords etc), one for resources (wood, stone, sap, fiber etc) one for ores (and coal) one for minerals, one for gems, one for farming (seeds, sprinklers, scarecrows etc) one for flowers, one for fruit (to make wine) one for vegetables (to make pickles) one for keeping 5 of everything I grow, one for keeping 5 of everything I produce (jelly honey mayo etc) one for geodes and artifacts to take to the library, one for stuff Im going to convert (trash for recycle sunflowers/corn for oil machine) one in each barn for extra eggs or milk, one for cooked meals, one for gifts, one for collecting stuff I need for the community center. And one for all the stuff that doesnt fit any other category. That was a lot of wood. Never sell wood.

I'm approaching the end of my first year and I'm only using like, 7-8 chests, most of which are half empty. They barely take up any space. What's the problem?

Just create a system that works for you. Here's mine:
Anything marked "forage" is in the chest right at the entrance to the farm.
Down the rightmost side is this:
Furnace
Furnace
Resource Chest
Furnace
Furnace
Chest of Build items like flooring and walls
Chest of Minerals
Chest of Fish
Chest of Fish

Can't put chests beyond that b/c pond is in the way. (Fish are stored near the pond, see?) The top two chests above hives are flowers and seeds/farming stuff since I don't use them much.

The one chest near the kegs holds fruit.

Chest farthest left is where vegetables are kept. (3 pickle vats are behind the silo)
Then Chest of Artisan Goods
Then Chest of Trash

Monster loot and spare weapons/armor is in the bat cave.

Four chests in front of house is dumping ground.

Three chests in far right bottom corner (inside house) is for deco and cooked foods.

Yeah people have suggested the dev adds signs or a way to name chests but honestly if you just remember what chest is for what that works for now. I make sure my chests have one kind of resource in them. Also, this isn't explicitly stated anywhere in the game but I learned it from another user here... you can place chests outside of your farm too! I keep all of my weapons and some food in a chest right outside the mine for example.

My chest collection is growing and I'm not too happy about that. I sell a lot and just assume I'll do without. I'm close to ending the 2nd year so I don't expect to get any more villager quests. That leaves gift items, tools, combat related stuff, crafted things I'm not using anymore, etc. Still, lots of stuff.

Labels on my chests would be nice.

A cellar on my farm would be nice too.

I use a similar system, which I have utilized on each character's farm, (to make it easier to remember).

I have chests outside my house in order:
Plant stuff: Forage, wood, sap
Rock stuff: ores, gems, bars
Fish
Monster stuff: slime, bug meat, bat wings, etc., tree saps, batteries
Seeds & extra sprinklers/paths

Inside each crafting area, I have a chest holding fruits for winemaking, etc.

Inside the barn, I have a chest with shears & miling pail.

In the house -- 1 chest for mining food, 2 chests + fridge for holding fruit & veg, etc. for cooking.

Later on I added 3 chests to store seeds for each season, in case I wanted to plant some in the greenhouse, etc.

You really don't need that many chests, since you don't need to keep ALL of everything. If you want to keep stuff for villagers, just take the largest number stack, and sell the rest. E.g. You have 3 regular blueberries, 2 silver star, and 7 gold star. Keep the 7, sell the others.

Just be organized. Lots of chests for special needs or specific items. If space or mass storage is your concern get a big/deluxe barn and fill it with rows of chests.

I have so many chests.

In my house I have 9 chests. 2 for fish, 2 for food, 2 for equipment and gear+bombs, 3 for wallpapers, floors, furniture.

Outside I have 10+ chests. 1 for flowers, 1 for forage, 1 for crops, 1 for minerals, 1 for minerals and artifacts, 1 for building and smithing ressources, 1 for seeds, 1 for slimeranch stuff, 1 for barrel fodder, then probably 2-3 more across different locations for the odd stuff I need exactly at that location.

Thing is even with 20+ chests most full to the brim I know exactly where everything is and always have everything in stock so that fetching quests etc aren't a problem.
