Wavy Green Lines, Followed by Bug Attack?

I'm getting pretty frustrated in the mine. Sometimes (not that often) I get a thing where there's wavy green lines on the screen, kind of like being poisoned except not. Then, there will just be loads and loads of buzzing flying bugs and I almost always die trying to leg it to the exit. They come at a rate of one maybe every 2-3 seconds, and just swarm me. Is this normal? How do I avoid it?

Just stand and fight. They will stop coming after a short ammount of time. Consider it a miniboss of sorts.

That's normal. The wavy green lines should be more of a fog though. At lower levels you get a reddish fog and bat attacks.

Upgrade your weapon, shoes, and rings. And bring something to replenish health. And/or try again another day when the fortune teller says your luck will be good.

Thanks. I can't really upgrade anything though I'm only level 15 in the mine and finding it really hard to find coal to upgrade stuff. :(

Eventually you'll get a charcoal kiln which can make 30 wood into one charcoal. That makes it much easier to smelt all your ores into bars. Just take the mine one five-floor spurt at a time. As your levels increase and you complete bundles you'll get access to devices that make your life convenient.

You "upgrade" your weapon and other combat related things by purchasing new ones at the adventurer's guild. All you need is money. Upgraded tools aren't going to help you survive the insect swarms.

Thanks but I have the most upgraded weapon I can right now which is the wooden sword. I keep going to the guild but there is nothing new to buy.

Check the board next to the counter on the guild. The goal for killing bugs is not hard, and the sword it awards you is very good.

Maybe try farming the first mine levels until you level up combat. Also, pay attention to the fortune teller. I had a lot of trouble with the bug attacks at first and ended up only going on lucky days until I got past that section. That really helped in my case.

I don't remember when better swords were available at the guild. It might be tied to combat skill level.

The only thing you need in the mine is food. You drop HP ? You eat to full. The mine is so easy. I never died once and i never was close to dying. The only thing you have to do is freaking spam the attack button and you kill everything coming close to you....

If you want a good weapon, I recommend having alot of money first. There's a (somewhat) cheap way of getting the best sword in the game, the Galaxy sword. If you have Pierre's catalog and the bus unlocked, you can use Wallpaper 75(pale green) inbetween the pillars that give you the sword, because from what I heard Prismatic Shards and Wallpaper 75 have the same ID. That's the only thing you can do with it, though.(Yes, I know this thread is old.)

but i suggest dont buy anything from the adventurer guild though. you can get equipments and weapon from chests every 20 level at the mines
