I've never wanted multiplayer in a game so badly.
This game scratched every Harvest Moon itch I've had since childhood, and the more I play it the more it quickly rises above my favorite HM to date, HM64. I've always wanted the ability to invite and visit farms of friends (FarmVille does not deserve to even be mentioned in this discussion) and this game, more than any HM clone to come before it, deserves to be the one to introduce such a feature into this genre.

How do you feel?

The developer already said multiplayer is being added.
Really?!! Oh my god that made my day...

He wanted to, at first, wait with multiplayer, before a full release. But singleplayer was a complete experience, and he didn't wanna keep people waiting any longer. The moment it released, he got working on multiplayer.

I've seen screenshots of several farmers working the same farm, so don't worry friend, it is coming in a near future, and we're all excited for it!

Grand bazaar hm tried multiplayer. You go in trade items take care of others livestock and even milk, shear or pick up eggs. I still have no idea if the animal produce was shared or if I just robbed someones produce. You could only bring one animal each to a small area with like 3 other players and their one animal of choice.

I wonder how concerned ape will implement it will it be co-op ot the old harvest moon game style mini games? If its full co-op how would profits and griefing prevention work? 50/50 on gold or shared gold? This may cause issues if someone buys something unwanted.

I imagine shared profit, shared farm, but each to their own coinpouch. Full experience

I dont see multiplayer being that fun. Visit a farm- help farm, help in the cave, some events. Seems boring. Stuff you can do on your own but with another person? Not really too exciting. Harvest Moon and Rune Factory games worked just fine as single player experiences (I dont recall any being multiplayer, but I could be wrong). I think at this point- multiplayer will just be tacked on and people will get excited even if its horrible.

Yes I know the developer wants to add multiplayer, but honestly I'm not convinced it will be great.

This has been intended as a multiplayer game throughout the development, so don't throw the concept away just yet! I imagine you'll be able to do things seperately from each other. One going mines. One fishing. Etc.

I have no idea how multiplayer would work in this game. Maybe something like Sim City reboot where you trade with adjacent farms? There's nothing to really trade though.

To be honest, I assumed he'd go with a communist style of multiplayer. You dont have separate money, but just one coffer for the entire farm that everyone draws from. Other players join the host and you all work together on one farm. No carrying over characters like Terraria or any such thing.

Basically, it would be a style where you'd play only with friends rather than random people on a server list. I'd also assume that only the host would be able to play the map alone, unless they left it up for others (I'd assume time would stop when no one was in game).

I'm waiting for how it will be,

but the multiplayer can simply work like the Animal Crossing series; just you visiting others' farm and helping others taking care of things; like caring for animals, or cutting weeds, or refilling hay, or cutting some developing time in half, for instance.

Or you can leave gifts for them, perhaps?

Or maybe even do it Dark Soul style? A buff whenever your PC is tired / in danger / stayed up late?

Wow, I can't believe people are being this optimistic. Multiplayer is a possibility, but don't hold your breath. Indy games have a long standing history of never delivering on multiplayer when the single player was released without it. I mean, I hope it comes too, but I'm definitely going to be surprised if it actually does come out.

There is even video of gameplay already made by the dev and also this dev has been really good and trustworthy up until now.

So how is that going work? What can multiplayer add that the singleplayer cannot provide?

Besides showing off your farm.

"FarmVille does not deserve to even be mentioned in this discussion"

But you just mentioned it!

There's an older video on ConcernedApe's youtube channel that showed how mutliplayer would work. Unsure if it's still going to be the same, seeing as the video was released in 2013.
