A bug with fishing pole

Hi I just had to close my game and lose a good fishing day because I accidently used my fiberglass fishing rod on the ground (i don't remember how far into the bar I threw it on) but now i'm stuck unable to move or cancel it or anything at all. So I decided fine i'll just let myself pass out to get out of it but I never did way past 2am so I had to close it.

I was standing eastern side of the forest lake I do know before if I accidently used it it was auto cancel upon landing but this time it didn't so I hope the dev can look into it and hopefully find the bug

Same thing happened to me but in water. My character was facing down and pole was sticking out as it he was casting to left. Same deal where I was trapped until late at night. Although At 4am I clicked mouse and my guy passed out. So at least it just cost me a little money to keep my save.

Yep, same thing is happening to me. Fiberglass pole and all.

Same. Happened once when fishing during the fall festival and twice in winter at the ocean.

I have a have notice a big difference when standing on the edge of the fishing spot. If you're going to be fishing, try standing a bit away from the edge, that does seem to work.

November 2017 and the problem seems to still be alive and well. I was standing on the west pier near the tall rock. Was trying to remember how to attach bait to my new, fiberglass rod when I accidentally did a short cast, and everything locked up. I'll close the SDV window and restart the day. I'm not complaining about the developer - I know he's pretty much a one-man band and is doing his best. I just wanted folks to know that it can still happen, so be careful how you handle your fishing rod. You don't want a hook in your eye (or knee).

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with trying to input other controls whilst casting the rod, wether it be trying to open a menu or move around, etc.

This bug extends past just fishing the ground.
Never try to fish a bird..especially seagulls. If you hit it, it sticks.

Happened to me with wooden pole I tried to chuck it in sell box, my character couldn't move or anything at 5am I quit and redid the day

Can confirm it's still a thing in 2020. Might be mods, but the mods I have, I've used for a while now so... 99% not them, since I've fished a ♥♥♥♥ load using those mods

The bug isn't mod related, as my experience was with the original, vanilla game. It's usually hitting certain objects when you cast, where the game just decides it's too confused to allow anything more to be done. It should be set up that if you aren't going to 'hit' the water, the cast simply doesn't work....unless there's something not in the water that you can "catch"???

got this bug today, cant do anything. i guess the fiberglass(or all rods???) have this bug
