Question about raising slimes?

Hello guys, I have a question that may have an obvious answer. So I was successfully able to start raising some slimes (I currently have 3 green and 1 red) and I've had them for about 2 seasons now, but I somehow cannot get them to produce slime. I feed them water regularly (it appears that only one of them is accutally drinking as well) but I feel like I'm missing something. Is there a certain way I need to collect the slime? Am I missing a crafting item I need to collect it? (Again I may be being dense and have missed something really obvious) Can anyone help me?

Do you have male and female slimes? It'll only work if you have both genders. The male ones have an antenna on their head, and the females not.

No problem. At first I couldn't figure out how to get slime offspring, too. The game isn't exactly descriptive about it.

Did someone discover a way for the pet slimes to stop attacking you or is it really impossible? Such a pain that the slimes you hatched and care about everyday still attack you all the time, I don't like it at all. Maybe a mod to change it?

I haven't found anything... I just have to live with the fact that my babies hate me lol

I wouldn't even think about raising slimes without the slime ring. It's funny that you need to murder 1000 slimes for it. =P

I set up fences and doors in my slime hutch so I can access the water and egg incubator without getting hit. Could help if you don't have the slime ring yet lol

It's annoying to say the least to water them and collect the egg when they are all attacking you, but shouldn't prove fatal as long as you have full health, I never fall below 3/4 health doing it.

Maybe put a chest right outside and keep the slime ring in it.

It might be really late to respond but to stop the slimes attacking you need the Slime Charmer Ring from Gil in the Guild (monster hunting quest)... Well they wont stop attacking but the ring makes it so they wont hurt you.
