Re-rolling lucky days (Spoiler)
So I bought about 150 omni geodes in the desert store and checked the TV the next morning to see if it would be my lucky day. It was so I headed out to the blacksmith to break them open.
I didn´t get a prismatic shard so I restarted the day to try again. Thing is I got the exact same artifacts, the same amount also, on the 2. try.

So my question is: how do geodes and their yield work. Is their yield determined when they come into my possession or really just random at opening and I got lucky / unlucky with those artifacts?

I believe every day has a different random seed. If you try opening the geodes again on the same day you'll get the same things. If you try the next day, you might get something else. But that's just a conjecture, I didn't experiment on it.

It's highly probable that Huro's theory is right, if you are even getting the same things on the very same order it's almost sure that it works like that, either that or they're really set on the moment the geode spawn but that would be impratical to store so much information when you can use a seed to generate it only when it's needed. (impratical from a programing point of view)

It would make sense. I´ll try on another day then, thanks guys!

I'm with Huro on this as well.

The way the game has a bunch of variable things (crop/fish quality, geode content, treasure content, mine levels, etc.) and has a lucky/unlucky day mechanic, it seems logical that a seed gets generated every time you sleep, and that day's events are based on that seed.
