It's a rare drop and as such completely random.
You would want ducks with max hearth though.

Think they need to be completely happy ducks to drop them, still waiting mine to drop them as well.

I took a long time until the one duck finally dropped one for me. I sold it the next day.

I can confirm that this is random and you DO NOT need a lvl 5 happy duck. I got 2 feather with 4 lvl 2 happy ducks on winter.

Yes. I meant I sold the duck the next day. Turned the feather in for the bundle and sold the duck, lol. Sorry for the confusion.

I should have kept the duck for a 2nd feather perhaps if I was going for the full shipment achievement, but wasn't aware of that at the time. Maybe I'll go for the full shipment achievement my next playthrough.

maybe he means he sold the duck after getting the feather? Animals, specially ducks, doesn't worth all the hassle of having to pet them DAILY, only reason to keep a duck is to use the feathers as a gift for Elliot. Sheeps, ducks, goats, and Rabbits are a waste of time, Pigs are the most profitable of all and well Chickens and cows are good for recipes

I just had a feather drop from a duck with no hearts that I don't pet. So it's completely random. I have two ducks that I don't do anything with but collect eggs. Health and happiness have no impact on drops.

Did you know that you can totally skip a sheep if you have a rabbit? And also, the only item that is universally loved (more than just liked) by everyone but Penny is the rabbit's foot, rare-but-not-so-rare drop from the rabbit.

I agree that goats and sheeps are pretty useless, unless you are going for Leah, that loves Goat Cheese.

Yeah, it comes randomly, I got one when I starved my duck at not even a full heart lol
Ringleader Ren Feb 27, 2017 @ 8:38am
It says 1 and a half hearts for a duck to drop a feather. Shop Jr won't give me any.
Ringleader Ren Mar 4, 2017 @ 5:24am
Shop Jr: 3.5 hearts
Drops: Egg after egg
Did I get a feather yet?
Ringleader Ren Mar 4, 2017 @ 5:24am
No.
Ringleader Ren Mar 4, 2017 @ 5:24am
I didn't.
Ringleader Ren Mar 4, 2017 @ 5:35am
Okay. YES I DID!
