Can I safely put paths around my growing trees?

It says it will only grow if the surrounding 8 tiles are empty. I was wondering if paths counted for this. Thanks.

They are. There can be nothing in the 8 surrounding tiles, no grass, not even tilled ground.

Edit: It's been reported in this forum that after the tree has grown and started to bear fruit you can place paths without problem, but I haven't tested that myself.

I put wooden floors around my regular trees when they were seeds, and they grew just fine. I'm not sure about fruit trees, though.

I have tested it[i.imgur.com] <-- It works fine. But you have to keep them clear during the growth period.

go to www.upload.farm and upload your save file, it'll tell you how. It's pretty legit.
