Ice Pip?

So I've been fishing ol level 60 of the mine for days in game using an iridium pole, bait, and a trap bobber and I have yet to catch an Ice Pip. In fact, I don't think I've even gotten a bite from one. It's surrently Summer 18 on my first year. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Edit: I'm also currently lvl 9 in fishing and have been using the fish soup constantly.

I caught about 70 ghost fish before I got my first bite from an ice, then I lost it because it was difficult.

Nothing, he's just painfully rare to bite, keep going and you'll get it eventually, just make sure you don't let it escape when you finally get one or you'll hate yourself for your whole life.
Also, just wait until you try the lava eel, the bite rate is even smaller.

all the mine special fish are super rare. i usually get 2-3 bites though if I fish almost all day. just keep fishing and it'll bite.

It took me 2-4 casts I think, it was quick to jump out at me anyway. I used the exact same bobber and pole as you.

You're just unlucky with it.

Didn't even know what I had on the line but after several fails I caught my first Ice Pip. I was using the Fiberglass rod and new bait and my fishing level is at 7. It was a neutral luck day too.
My higher level character with Iridium rod and bonus food just barely caught two Lava eels; I think they are rarer and harder to land!

i´d bought some icepip bait from willy, even then it took like 20 tries before i got lucky.

congrats on your catch. next time you are in that situation, farm mummies in skull cavern, they drop curiosity lure, which increase bite rate of less common fish.
