Watering should be easier with a controller
I do everything else with my xbox 360 controller because I prefer to sit back and relax while playing games like this, but its lightyears faster to use a mouse to water plants because you can just click on each square. When I use my controller I often miss squares because I have no idea where it's aiming and overall it's just incredibly slow. It would be nice if the system was improved somehow for controller users.

The mouse cursor might be interfering with your controller.

If you play in windowed mode, you can move the cursor out of the game.

Then you can reliably aim using just your character.

I'm not having any luck with this. I positioned the cursor outside of the game window, but the right stick still just moves the mouse cursor instead of letting me directly select squares or menu items.

Yeah I discovered this the other day. Helps quite a bit. Bit the process is still significantly slower with a controller.

So stop using a controller.

No? It's a more enjoyable experience to sit back and play this game with a controller, outside of the one aspect.

I'm actually really glad I have just got to the point where i have sprinklers - cos it means I can go back to my controller =P I haven't been able to figure out diagonal watering at all with my controller, so I ended up giving up and mouse/keyboarding a lot more than I wanted to. Couple times I was using controller with left hand, and mouse with right to aim - was a little uncomfortable =P

Game definitely needs better controller support. I hope CA makes it a priority, since a lot of people are having trouble with it. "Don't use a controller" is really not productive feedback.

One thing that you can do to help with aiming is to go the settings menu and turn on "Always show tool to hit location". It'll show a red outline around the tile your char is targeting that way your wont have to guess whether or not your char will water the correct tile.

Yeah I already did that, but as others have stated, you still cant water diagonally and it's just much slower in general than using a mouse. I'm just suggesting better controller support, that's all.
