Bachelorettes won't go above 8 hearts?

I've been trying to get everyone to 10 hearts recently, and I can say I've been having problems getting the bachelorettes over 8 hearts, even though I've given them multiple gifts they love (on birthdays too).

Is there something I'm missing?

Did you do the 8 heart events? Can't tell you at the top of my head what they are though. Also, I think you might need to give them a bouquet.

If you've already married someone, you're not supposed to be able to get other single people above 8 hearts. It's so you don't unlock the 10 heart scene.

I'm pretty sure I've done their 8 heart events. Isn't giving a bouquet like dating them? I don't want to do that yet. Besides, I've gotten Sam and Sebastian to 10 hearts already and they're single aswell, no bouquets given.

I already did Sam's 10 heart scene and I turned him down though...
Other than that I haven't married anyone or given anyone a bouquet.

If you haven't given any bouquets, you're not supposed to be able to get above 8 hearts. The 10 heart event is meant to be a lot more personal and romantic.

Did Sam and Sebastian have like 7 hearts and you gave them a gift on their birthday? That's the only way I've seen it to be possible, but again, you're not supposed to be able to.

I am thinking reason for asking is there is the five people/10 hearts achievement as well. Good to consider. Means another playthrough if I want it.

Strange... all I can say is that Abigail is capped to 8 hearts unless you give her a boquet. I thaught this is intended for bachelors/bachelorettes but as you already said this isnt the case.

I actually found a way to do that even when you married just gift them at the birthday with the item they like (i married leah but got haily to 10 hearts today using that way)

Yes, I got them both to 10 hearts from 7 on their birthdays and did both their 8 heart and 10 heart events in the same day.

I am not sure what the problem here is or the other information being provided. I married Leah and was still easily able to raise the others to 10 hearts from anywhere from 2-7 hearts without flowers. The events still happen when you reach the mile stone heart levels (2-4-6-8). If you believe the wiki the 10 heart event will only happen when you give them flowers but apart from that I have had no issues raising hearts prior to or after marriage.

If you believe the wiki the points system is as follows for those who don't know:
-Each heart is worth 250 points
-Loved gift gives 80 points
-Talking to them 20 points
-Not talking to someone for the day -2 points

Edit: I mistakenly assumed 'others' when it appears to be a bug. I had reached 10 with Maru and was working on the others but did further testing and was unable to proceed past 8.

I just got to Penny's birthday. She was at 8 hearts, I gave her an emerald and nothing happened. I reloaded the day, gave her a bouquet first, still 8 hearts, then the emerald and it went to 10 hearts.

Are you married yet? If not then I believe you must give flowers in order to raise to 10 but I am NOT confident about that. If you are married that restriction must be lifted as I have never given anyone but Leah flowers but after marriage 10 hearting everyone, yes even the single people, was straight forward.

Edit: Appears you are not able to raise other singles past 8 without a bouquet even after marriage.

The developer has explicitedly stated the purpose of giving the bouquet to someone, is when you're romantically interested in them. He has also said that it should not be possible to get above 8 hearts without giving them a bouquet (signifying you want to date them).

If you want to get everyone to 10 hearts just to witness their events, nothing's stopping you. But the frustration you're experiencing in trying to get everyone to 10 hearts is intended, because you're not supposed to.
