Can't get mods to work [solved]
I've downloaded a couple, but for the sake of simplicity we'll focus on the Sprint mod that makes you run faster. I can't get it to work no matter where I extract it to. I've downloaded SMAPI and put it in the same folder as the original executable, the little cmd box pops up when I start the game, etc, but I can't get any mods to work. Game always just starts up totally normally. I've even tried putting them in the mods folder in %appdata% and still nothing. I'm stumped.
EDIT: Turns out it's a lot easier to mod than I was making it out to be (at least, assuming you're using winrar like me) IDEDOnline made a really helpful video about how to properly mod the game if anybody is still interested (I followed his instructions and all mods are now working perfectly) link to vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDvzAvv_UUk

mods folder is not appdata. Mods for smapi is the mods folder where STD exe lives.

I've actually tried saving mods to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods and C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley\Mods but neither one works for me.

I can't get mods to work either. I always get the message 'Game Failed to Start' when tried to load up SMAPI.

I had that happen too. A restart fixed that error message I think.

I personally haven't gotten any error messages, it's just that none of the mods have any effect. (The API command line shows that they've been loaded, but then when I open the game it's just like before the mods.)

I wish that worked fo me. I've been trying for several days now to get it to work. I think I'll just give up now.

If you launch API, it should also launch the game for you once its done loading its things. Starting the game in steam just loads a vanilla game.
Whether you use stardew injector or API, they both launch thier own "client" and won't use steam.

try d/ling API again.

Can't speak for others, but I haven't been launching through Steam, I've been using API.

Someone on the forums just mentioned it might be an incompatibility with SPAMI 3.7-- I tried installing 3.6 instead with no change, but I'll wait and see if folks updating their mods helps at all...

My hope at this point is that the devs will integrate steam workshop at some point so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Nvm found a video that helped a lot, if anyone's still interested, edited post to include link

I'm also really hoping for a workshop. I want to be able to use steam and not a mod client where I can't use screenshots and my time isn't recorded properly :/

I followed the IDED video but when I started the game through the client I got an error:

I'm stumped. Is it saying the mod can't find the game's .exe file?
