Giving gifts to other people after married

My wife got kinda pissy with me for giving gifts to other NPCs. Is there an actual in-game penalty for this? I want to get the achievement for maxing out everyone's hearts (JUST AS FRIENDS), but I don't want my wife to nag me about it all the time. =\

Bizarre. Leah never mentions anything about giving gifts to other people. Whom did you marry?

I married Penny. In the morning she just had the normal conversation, e.g. I'm going into town, remember to eat a good meal, etc etc. But then I gave Abigail a present and came back and talked to her around noonish and she said something like the following three text strings:

1: "I heard you secretly gave abigail a present today..."

2: "Should I be worried?"

3: "...."

Not a big fan of this jealousy nag, as I'm not trying to be polyamorous or something. Just trying to be friendly and get achievements.

there are marriage npc... which you shouldn't give them gifts when you are already married.

gifting non marriage npc is no problem, i guess.

i dont think there is any penalty for it right now and every wife/husband has these annoying messages i believe, its one of the things the devs want to expand on in the future

I think jealousy nagging during the dating phase would be fine, but I don't want my wife getting all insecure and accusatory because I gave one of my friends a jar of mayonnaise. =P

Elliot said this when I gave Sebastian a frozen tear.. I was like, secretly?? I stalked the dude for two days around town before I caught him in the saloon so I could give that gift to him.

Anyway, he only ever seems to say that if I give a 'loved' gift to any of the guy singles (my character is also a guy).. It annoys me too, I'm only trying to get them to like me for goodness sake. So I usually don't talk to him in the afternoon after I've given a 'loved' gift to someone I know he's gonna be upset about.

Bedsides, he should be more worried about Leah, she's pretty forward at 8/9 hearts..

Someone already test about jealous wife. It seems it can be triggered even on neutral gift, seems like a gift rank is not a factor. It's completely depends on gifting, regardless quality and preferences of recipient

I've been giving stuff to villagers to befriend them and my wife doesn't even care about it.

that message don't seem to appear if you didn't give stuff to only one npc.

It really has to do with giving gifts to other marriable characters. I married Penny and she got jealous at Leah and Maru, although I tried to befriend half the village at that time. I don't know, I think her jealousness is funny and realistic.

I stopped befriending marriable characters anyway, because their friendship level never stops dropping since you can't bring them to 10 hearts... way too bothersome to chase after it all the time.

Makes sense, since I give everyone diamonds. The fact you can give people diamonds and they won't get the wrong idea is even more bizarre.

There's no need to give the singles, gifts in order to get the achievement.

children making ? do not need to be married either !

but if your wife dont help and spend time in the town than its just a hindrance

even spirits in the comunity center are more help than this living being bodies in the town
